    Hi all!

I traced my order at amazon.com 1 minute ago, and the info that came up was this:

Item Availability: 1 to be released: October 31, 2001
Expected Ship Date: Oct 18, 2001
    Estimated Delivery: Oct 25, 2001 - Oct 31, 2001

Which means it will be shipped on oct 18 and received in my moist hands on oct 25, which is great news!!

civ3.com, has a countdown on their splash page that says 13 days until release, so i'm doubting that stores will have civ3 today. but that might not stop me from going to compusa today anyway.

As long as I'm the first to get the game in the mighty kingdom of Norway, I'm happy! Anyway, it seems that I'll get it around it's actual US release date... which still is oct 31 as far as I understand. Fortunately I work on a freelance basis, so I can stay up all night playing Sid Meier's CIVILIZATION III!!!

I was met with blank faces - so they checked their list and.......

                it said the 16th November

This is at odds with the press release that stated the release date for the UK and the US was the 30th October

...so I am still going to expect to get my copy on the 30th

Apart from amazon with their bizarre 28th Dec every other UK online retailer has the 16th Nov too which is very worrying as not only do they all agree but that is a Friday - games are *always* released in the UK on Friday.

So what is happening to all those precious Civ3 CDs between arriving in the UK on the 30th Oct (according to Firaxis) and arriving on UK shop shelves on the 16th Nov ??

Maybe it takes 16 days to put them in to the UK box?
Hoping that 4 is closer to 2 than 3

You people are wasting time and fooling yourselves. The earliest the game will be released will be the 31st.

The 17th date was an old projection that was changed over a month ago to the 31st.

Hmmm, no news from Simpleton. Think he's playing the game?

This doesn't mean that a few retailers here and there don't get the latest word and sell it early. I'm not sure if they face penalties for selling early, but most managers would rather have new merchandise out on the floor and not cluttering up the storeroom.
