Well, it looks like the names will be a little nativized, but not nearly to the extent I want.

Bah, bring back Napoleon
Yes, Napoleon would have been better for different reasons:
1. Jeanne d'Arc NEVER was leader of France. She was just a general. It is like if they had put Admiral Nelson as leader of England, Gl Custer as leader of USA.
2. If you want to make the historical date of Unique Units match the historical date of the leader the civ (Great Catherine, leader of Russia at the Golden age of Cossacks, Caesar at the GA of Legion), then it was Napoleon who was in charge at the time of the musketteers.
To be honest, the best leader for France would have been Charlemagne, but I guess that this was a little bit too "europeanly incorrect", because the Charlemagne's empire also included today's Germany, Italy and other small countries, so he could also be claimed as German or Italy leader.
The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame. Oscar Wilde.
You mean EKATEPuHA and MOCKBA?
...and rejecting the offer, instead allying with IVLIVS C¨¡SAR (not Julius Caesar) to partition POCCuS| (Not Russia) so that you get CAHKT |*|ETEP6YP|* (not Saint Petersburg) and he gets APXAH|*E^bCK (not Archangelsk), and then going to war with the city below (not Tokyo). Really, how hard would it be to make Civ III Unicode-compliant?
why can't you use the cyrrilic alphabet, much easier: ¬²¬à ¬ã¬ã¬Û¬ñ for Russia and ¬Ó¬à ¬Õ¬Ü¬Ñ for Vodka, assuming the included the main trade of Russia
Edit: Well, OK, so you can't display the cyrillic alphabet
Actually, "spelt" is in the Oxford English dictionary as an acceptable spelling. British vs American English?
Perhaps they should have called her "La Pucelle", or even "The Maid of Orleans"...
Hmmm...so if I fell a tree, has it been felt?
And if Richard III went to it pell-mell, can we say now that he pelt-melt?
So, will you name-changers change the civ adjectives to Deutsch, Francais, etc.? Isn't Japan really called Nippon? Do you think we really have the right names for the Egyptian/Persian/Aztec cities?
