so what is the official reason for no MP? infogrames, money, bad coders..? what? and will it come free or be sold? for how much?
the reason given on the faq at civ3.com is basically that they wanted to concentrate on SP and MP isn't ready yet
personally i am mad at the firaxis team for their willingness to lie to customers, and conceal, not well i might add, information which is a big factor in purchasing the game.
due to a obsessive compulsive disorder i am buying the game but i am done with Firaxis as far as i am concerned.
(until civ4 of course)

Actually since Dan is (or was) frequenting this thread I wanted to ask about ICS, namely has anyone tried it while testing the game? If so, how did they do?
I'd think that with the smaller and standard food size boxes (all cities require X food to grow regardless of size) and increased settler cost, culture borders, etc, that ICS would be seriously hampered.
Just curious if any inside info could be given based on experiences of someone either trying ICS or having seen it tried.

You are not the only one. But, I can guarantee you that EVERYONE who has posted in the Civ 3 forums WILL buy(or otherwise obtain) the game by years end, regardless of missing features or bug reports. This will be done because of the legacy created by Civ 2 (an awesome game by the way). This will include all posters to this forum, Yin26 included.
If you are a nay sayer, and absolutely will not have the game by years end, post here so that I and others can see you for what you are; a LIAR!
I guess that I probably will get it, but most likely I won't be one of the lucky ones to snag a copy at the local EB...... probably have to wait until Eu2's just around the corner before being able to.... *sigh*
Ah well, at least I can get some objective reviews first (note to self: start playing tw2002 again and seek out the eye of horus.)
Most of the earlier ones were written by me (you know, the ones that tried so hard to be funny, but usually came up pathetically short while lately I've been relying on Civilopedia text written by two of our testers, Dr. Rex Martin "Doc Martin" and Jason Gleason. This week I was just fresh out of funny material so I used the Civilopedia text nearly verbatim, sometimes I will throw in a one-liner or two to lighten it up a bit, it all depends on how my week has been going
Dan
NO, they did NOT come up pathetically short (of being funny)! I really enjoyed them, and I encourage you to continue to strive in putting in funny snippets.
OTH, I would have appreciated less info on recent Russian history (Gorbachev to current), and more on an explanation of how Russian society 'deteriorated' between Catherine and Nicholas II. Being 50 years old and having been interested in current events, I lived through the end of the Cold War.
Naw, not this time. If the Gold Edition is worth it, perhaps then and only when I can buy it below $30.
I didn't say that you'd have to buy it, only that you'd "otherwise obtain it." That could mean I'm rooting for Mark to provide you a copy so that you could do a proper review, in only a fashion that is possible by you and only you.
Or it could just accidentally fall into your basket at the corner software store, only for you to realize this AFTER you've brought it home; "Kids!, who put this into the cart when I wasn't looking!?"

LOL! Well, that Markos idea iiiis awfully good! And if I accidentally had to box fall in my basket...hmmm. LOL!
Snoopy:
If Civ3 is the best game ever, I'd thank all the people on the forums who worked so hard to help Firaxis. I'd also publically admit that Firaxis did outstanding work. Then I'd say: "Gee. Bad PR makes no difference in the software business."
