    Of course there were civil wars in Civ2. Occasionally they were a pain, but they usually added spice. And yes, I have the standard American edition.

      But anyway, yes, civil wars were in civ 2, but I found them to be pretty rare. But rare or not there WERE civil wars. Sorry, perhaps you never had one happen, cause like I said they were pretty rare, I wish they had been a little more common, maybe they will be in Civ 3

        I have Civ II for the Apple Macintosh and civil wars are quite common in some of my games.

        All that is required for a civil war is occupying the the capital of a nation more powerful than your own. There also has to be fewer than the maximum number of civs still in play Ñ this can come either from having fewer than the max from the outset or if other civs have been conquered in the past. I've split empires. I've seen weaker AI civs take the capital of a larger AI civ and split it. Fortunately, I've never had it happen to me.
