Why should they be clearly visible as units?
But I still would like to see something more than "Pay this amount in gold and you can see what your enemy is up to".
He's even happy he no longer has to be running out on the sun anymore. And I'm glad too, because checking out and establishing trade routes for 200 cities in civ2 could be a bit boring and tiring sometimes.
