          Aliens And Seasons

There should be only two seasons based upon the time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth and occurring about March 21 (a vernal equinox or spring equinox) and September 22 (an autumnal equinox). However, Aristotle studied the seasons based upon the ancient elements of water, air, fire and earth to deduce his system of the organic cycle of life which begins with the renewing growth of spring. I think seasons ought to affect the aliens in different ways. However, the aliens should only become important if one begins to explore space.

            Alien invasion?

*Thinks for a quarter of a second*

            YES

And if Civ3 has event handlers (or better yet, a scripting language like SLIC) I'm going to write a mod for it. And there's nothing you, Vlad Antlerkov, can do to stop me!!!

            BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

People will down load it, install it, and love it! It will become standard! (I'm getting ahead of myself of course. I have no idea if Firaxis will provide tools for using some sort of script and I have no artistic ability at all.)

Alien civs or alien invasions? Lemme think about that...

              *thinks for a half second*

              NO.

And to clear up a misconception: SETI and other search programs search only by listening for messages. They don't send. What does send, however, are TV and radio stations. If an alien civilization receives our radio and TV transmissions, chances are, the first TV transmission they'll decipher will be that of Hitler at the 1936 Munich Olympics. Whoops.

Fortunately, if we come across an alien message, we'll be able to tell that it's a message, since it'd be a lot different from natural radio transmissions (any object warmer than absolute zero or the ambient environment radiates throughout the EM spectrum, which includes radio-- the warmer it is, the stronger the radiation).

civ III is not a futuristic game... do an alien scenario... that is the solution for aliens.

I dislike the idea of aliens invading earth.

But Civ2 had one problem, and it was a big problem. In most of the games I have played, I just had killed everyone before getting mobile warfare. Cavalery is a great weapon, but I would have prefered to fight with stealth bombers and nukes.

Firaxis has to find something to make a game last a bit more. The alien invasion is not the solution. But the gameplay has to become a bit more well-balanced.

There is nowt wrong with English grub.

Lancashire hotpot, Yorkshire pud, Cornish Pastie, Dover Sole, Chicken Tikka Masala.... far better than snails and horsemeat.

In all seriousness the French do have an enviable gastronomic flair.

On the subject of aliens, no thanx. If you want aliens then it will have to be lo-key. If and when humans discover ET the conversation will most likely be slow and incomprehensible. Rampaging hordes of aliens descending upon Earth is far less likely than an asteroid impact killing all civilization. If aliens are in I want the possibility of a asteroid impact.

Barney and Playboy would offer a much more insightful look into human nature and culture then the munich olympics. (that broadcast was just a short speach at the start of the olympics, anyways.... wasn't it?)

I think that it's sitcoms and gameshows that you'd have to worry about them geting.
