Demo BEFORE Civ3's Release?

Ahhhhhh!!!!
When's it coming out for Mac?!!!
If they do the demo well, it would help convince people to buy the game. I got SMAC based on the demo."Remember, there's good stuff in American culture, too. It's just that by "good stuff" we mean "attacking the French," and Germany's been doing that for ages now, so, well, where does that leave us?" - Elok

If the SMAC-demo was pre-released a couple weeks before the main-game, theres no reason why they shoudnt follow the same procedure with a pre-released Civ-3 demo. The benefit? Well, I think Brian Reynolds comments speaks for itself. My only added advice, is that they should zip it together with a limited/pre-released map-editor as well, so that many handmade maps is already available & downloadable by the time the big main game is officially released.

If it's a good game a demo wont spoil the real game, it might get undecisive players to buy it.Originally posted by Osweld
Why spoil the real thing with some half-assed demo?

Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

I KNEW yin couldn't stay away for long!
But yes, a Demo (even a half-assed one) would be great!

rofl, funny stuff admiral
but wouldn't a demo, resulting in lots of user feedback and more features/enhancements getting put into the game at the last minute cause a plethora of bugs to find their way into the game? SMAC did have a fair few, if I remember correctly.....
....as usual, there's a downside and an upside to everythingIf the voices in my head paid rent, I'd be a very rich man

Did you know that at 2am GMT this morning there are just 1313 hours left until Civ3 releases
That's if it releases at 00:00 EST on the 17th of the 10th.

There were some posts in the past to suggest that Yin was in fact Sid. While I didn't "bite" into that one, I am pondering the connection between Firaxis and Yin??????
Right before we hear any news from Firaxis, Yin comes in and starts ranting about this or that, and the next thing you know Firaxis is on top of it! Is Yin some kind of Fortune Teller? I think not! I do however feel he is closely connected to the inner workings of Firaxis somehow. Maybe Yin is Brian (just using a cover)? He could be any number of Firaxian insiders that frequent the forum.
I just think that too many coincidences have happened involving Yin to not consider what I have put forth. Those that have been following Yin's posts know what I'm refering to.
To Yin(and anyone else you claim to be)
:
I know you have the demo(if not the game itself), spare us the agony and SHARE!
