Not everybody, Ralf. You missed that one by a mile. Or am I nobody
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

I would like a zero player mode, like an advanced screensaver. Where you could chose to see what an AI sees and change the speed of the game etc.

Maybe not from the main game window, but with some hacks to some textfile...

EVERYBODY? SO you tell to me, and aaglo, and something like 50-70 % of posters that we are not everybody, we are eradicated from this world just because we play SP more often than MP? read the poll results again.

I voted for the 3rd choice. Both should be there at release, it's today's market "dictat". I play SP, AND I recognize the mainstream importance devoted to MP. Both a strong AI programming AND a complete MP have their place in a every good game. Then everybody should be happy...

Time commitments have kept me from trying MP. But even as a solo player, I believe that Firaxis should offer a MP version of Civ3 from the start. If it's not ready by their release date, then it should be available shortly afterward as a free patch. If they want to develop an expansion pack later on, fine, but it seems unfair to expect MP afficionados to reach for their wallets a second time. MP is part of what the game is, and issuing a SP-only version feels like issuing an incomplete version.

Yes to delay, no to lame

Any strategy game released after 1996 should support multiplayer out of the box. Not supporting multiplayer out of the box would be lame.

Yes to delay, no to lame.

                MP- One reason only: PBEM
of course I will engage in SP. I will eventually look for better and more realistic challenges.

The MP part is important for a lot of people, but I find it hard to believe that the majority of the people who buy the game buy it for the MP part.

That said, I personally would like to see MP straight out of the box, plus a decent MP server which can hook you up to other MPers. Perhaps even one that (for internet games) keeps track of win/loss stats and such automatically, as well as servicing me with PBEM capabilities. So there... That's my 2¢.
