Nope, no benefit to hps... the Military Academy increases strength by 1/4 instead of 1/6.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Sorry I did not mean to imply you get an extra HP, in fact I said it was maxed at 24 HP. I was talking about the army bonus, which I can't even remembr what they are now.

Didn't you get 1 'bonus' hp to armies in PTW and plain civ3?

Doesn't matter, the new bonus to armies more than makes up for any 'lost' hp

Fourth one? You need the Pentagon for that, which means at least 3 Armies in the field IIRC. Not sure about you, but there ain't too many games where you get that many early enough to still be using Ancient Cavalry in armies.

Yup that is what it means. With C3C it is more common than beffore. You have no need to burn the MGL with wonders now.

They later armies, 3rd or beyond are not going to have AC in them, but the existing AC army can add a 4th one. You will likely have a few still around. In combat they will not be all that useful at that point, but make nice deterences when parked in a city.
You can use them to kill those roving calvs.

If you're using the 'insanely aggressive warmongerer' playstyle then 3 armies will be there before you leave despotism

It Should but it does not. I built the Pentagon in my last game before I built Sun Tzu's. (~650BC)

I have already moved to a (slightly) modified version of C3C using some of the changes I used to play in PTW. The Pentagon now requires Mil Tradition in my games. Works fine and gives armies a boost just as the defenders are getting RR's to move units.

Interesting Mod. I must confess that I have thought about doing the same, just been too lazy to do it. Might make it a higher priority when I update my mod.
