I used to play the AH games with my brothers. When I went to college everyone was interested in D&D. Somehow I found out about this guy on the east coast that offered a PBM server for Third Reich. I joined up and stayed with it for about 5 years, until his RL got in the way. He had about 20 games going at a time. People would sign up to play a country in one or more games. One month the allies sent in their moves, the next month the axis did. Each month he collected the moves, did all the die rolls, and sent out a newsletter with the moves and results. We contributed some $$ to cover his costs for the newsletter. It was lots of fun.

why don't you let mr know a little about you?
I'm Eli. 18, from Ashdod, Israel.
I was born in the Soviet Union and our entire family moved to Israel in 1991.
I'm about to finish school now. Next year I'll either go to the Army or to the University(Army pays) and then to the Army.
I'm on Poly for quite a while. Almost 3 years. I started in the Civ2 forums but quickly discovered the OT and spent the vast majority of my Poly time there since then.
Currently i'm posting less and less in the OT(nothing new under the sun), and busy mainly with PBEM games.
I've never been a good civ player, Monarch is the best I can manage.
Ummm... I spend most of the time reading, more or less everything I can put my hands on.
Hmph, that's it I think."Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master" - Commissioner Pravin Lal.

My name is Dissident.
hmm I'm never good writing about myself
I'm in my late 20's. I spent 8 years in the U.S. Navy. Now I returned to where I grew up- Las Vegas. I knew I could find a decent job here. My main interests are hiking, movies, music, and of course computer games. I lived in places like Orlando, FL, Charleston, SC, Norfolk, VA (and Newport News and Hampton), and Pascagoula, MS. I was an east coast guy- so the places I have been all center around the Mediterranean sea and the Persian gulf. I wanted to do one WestPAC, but I couldn't get transferred over here. Right now I'm a tech and go around and fix things. I like working with my hands.
I primarily play RPG's and TBS games like SMAC, and Civ3. In fact aside from multiplayer I don't play any single player civ3. I usually stayed on monarch level in civ3. I've never liked dealing with happiness problems. In civ2 I stayed on King or emporer level. And in Smac I stayed on Thinker Transcend level.
But right now I'm still playing RPG's heavily. Baldur's Gate 2 being my favourite- I'm in a game right now. I still occasionally play Fallout2. And I'm also playing Icewind Dale 2, and Neverwinter Nights- multiplayer modules. And of coures PBEMS and demo games for civ3. And pbem's for SMAC.

My AH games are stacked on the upper shelves of my book cases in my computer room. I took a look last night and I have both first and third editions of Third Reich, Afrika Corps, Victory in the Pacific, Panzer Blitz (I think one of my brothers had Panzer Leader), and about a dozen more, plus a few non-AH games. All collecting dust now. I have often thought of trying to take the basic concepts of one of those games and turning it into a computer game. Maybe if I ever find myself out of work...

I never got involved in anything like that. Sounds like a hoot.
I really like the TBS type strategy games and I basically play everything SP (except for this one of course). It fits my time availability better and I like to be able to stop and think about what I want to do. Everyonce in a while I do something different for a change (e.g, Mech Warrior or AoE2) but I always come back to Civ style games. I never tried the RPGs but some day I may pick up a real cheap one (i.e., an old popular one now in the bargain bin) just to see what they are like.
