So is Lux in war status with New Demo? I think what happened was they lost a settler. I think I heard that somewhere. But that would put them in war status.

Yup - the foreign office thread that Neu D started has a bit of emotion it it. Lux and Neu D look like they may be going at it soon.

This may work in our favour - or against it. If Lux is the next nation to us on the neighbouring continent, which is what we suspect, then the more they are 'engaged' with their neighbours, the less chance they will have of Rexing to the point of land we can see. And the more open land that should be there when we get across.

On the other hand - if they get boxed in by their neighbours - which would appear to be the case from the little snippet of a screen shot that ws posted in that thread - it may actually force them to expand our way.

Guess we will soon see.

Greetings! How are things? I see from the foreign office thread that tensions between you and Lux are running high. We wish you all the best with what must be difficult times. I had sent the attached note earlier, and it looks like one way or the other we will soon have contact with you. We would like to start discussions on some of the points I raised - namely tech research and trade arrangements, and long-term friendship.

If you can spare some time from the other issues facing you, we would like to hear from you.

I say we head towards map making after philosophy

Lux may be busy with defense to expand. although one of the other nations might expand into there. It depends on the layout.

I was thinking map making may be available for trading by the time we get through philosophy. Map making is twice the beaker cost, but someone may have started on it already.

But if not - yes. It would be a good next step.

I'm finding that the trading and research environment is so dynamic that it is difficult to plan too far ahead.

Received from GhengisFarb in response to my proposal. So - do we go with this??? I see no reason not to.

We will not have Mathematics for a few more turns but agree to trade Math for Myst on that turn.

I went ahead and agreed to the other part of the deal and Math should take no longer than two turns.

Hi nathan. The two techs should be there now. We even had a separate thread reminding Dissident and myself. We bumped it to keep it near the top.

I see that you have finished writing. As you had not accepted the deal to send it to us on its own (didn't believe our fumbling was for real???) we could not start philosophy this turn. Will let you know the research time when we do next turn. Can you let us know the time for Code of Laws please.

Concluded the deal with GoW. Sort of. We now have contact with Neu D, and can pass this on - if you do not already have it courtesy of RP. We have passed mysticism to GoW. They will complete mathematics and will pass it to us in two turns time. As mentioned previously - this deal also cost us 15 gold. But split between us that is a dirt-cheap price for math.

Also as mentioned earlier, one warrior is heading back down the road as we are now sure we don't need him for population control duties up north. Our other warrior is moving back to his mountain look-out spot.

Looks like Lux has themselves in a pit of a pickle.

Anyways - trust all is well with the GS folks. Please keep us posted on events, and we will do likewise.

Guten tag, borc. BetaHound here from Vox Controli - the land across the sea. I trust you do not mind me writing you directly, but I have recently sent two letters to Picahulu with no response. He may be busy with RL, or busy with other foreign affairs matters given your tensions with Lux.

If you would like me to forward my previous letters to you, please let me know. They describe our geo-political situation in some detail

As you will see when you play the turn, we now have formal communications with the fine nation of Neu Demogyptica. As an introduction, I have offered Mysticism as a trade. I am curious if you have other technology you may want to offer in return. We are fairly well advanced ourselves, but are always open to creative offers. If you do not have technology to exchange, we are more than willing to offer Mysticism to you for a nominal amount of cash and future considerations. This will be our commitment to future friendship between our two fine nations.

Please let me know about the trade via PM. It is a much more efficient way of finalizing deals. Also let me knowif you have received my other letters. And we wish you all the best in your struggles with Lux.

Ghengis - this is acceptable to us. I have just played the turn and accepted contact with Neu D, for contact with GS, Mysticism, and 15 gold. You agree to send us mathematics in two turns when completed.
