  • Ok. What now?

Thought it would be useful to start a discussion about where we go now - or try to go.

There has not been response to Rhoth's recent note to GS. I wonder if our future is currently being decided by GS and GoW, or if they are just in a lull after the big war.

At any rate - it wouldn't hurt to toss around some ideas.

I think we would all agree on our first objective - survival.

The question is whether this is best achieved passively (ie - just staying out of everyone's way) or proactively (trying to allign ourselves with who we think will benefit us the most.)

There are 3 major powers left. 2 are going to be ganging up on the 1 soon. And I suspect it will be Gow and GS vs ND. Is there any way of making this work for us. Say - if RP and ourselves allied with ND in this scenario?? Coming in later when the advantage of surprise exists.

Or do we let the two eliminate the one, whoever that will be - and then wait for our opportunity when tge last two major civs go head to head. This seems to make the most sense - but it would be nice to negotiate or beg for a bit more land to work with.

    Other thoughts??

My thoughts are akin to watching GS and GoW take out ND and then waiting for one of them to hit the other...though obviously the spaceship victory will start to come into play for one of the three too.

I also want to beg GS and GoW for Lego land and try to settle that. It would take us a little while to settle it but it'll help us a bit.

Sounds good. We can offer technology research assistance in exchange for land.

Have we made any diplomatic overtures to GoW and GS?

          Did anything come of that?

I would advise against sitting on the fence to long, we will have to take a side soon, or else that will be decided for us. And the GoW/GS monster is not someone I want as a next door neighbor without them being in my posket or visa versa.

I just read both FA threads for GS and GoW.

Lets make some overtures about tech trading (MZ already mentioned it), and when we get the what we think will be a positive response back, then let them know we aren't even close to OCN yet and a few well placed cities in old Lego lands would sure help our tech research out, I mean after all most of the cities they get would be corrupt over here anyway, unless they built an FP on this continent.

            Thoughts?

Witt, you have made recommendations to strengthening our defences. And I agree that it is required. Rhoth has done the best we could while getting our economy to this point as well.

But to be honest, I'm not sure building our defences would do much good. If GS and GoW wanted us dead - we would be dead by now. We are alive thanks in part to two things - the good will that we may have built up, and which many are trying to put into this game, and secondly, our research capability.

I think we would simply be a speed bump to the military powers of GoW and GS if they decided to run us over. Although we do have good defensive territory.

I think our long-term survival is going to depend on diplomacy - staying as neutral as we can, while still benefitting from our trade deals. Get some more land if we can. And stay out of everybodies way. The next fight will be among ND, GoW, and GS. From that mess - two survive. And when they go at it - that's our opportunity.

And in the meantime - continue to build as strong a military capability as our limited economy will allow.

Playing everyone at the same time will NOT be easy.

When it comes right down to it, we need to keep the closest threat the happiest.

But with navies being what they are now - in my mind, all three are equally close.

It will take some diplomacy to figure out what the others are thinking, and who is allying with whom. We steer the middle ground with maybe a slight veer to one side or the other.

Then the ships collide - and we get into swordplay. Ooops. Mixing my games here.

So no one here really knows what the diplo situation is on the other continent?

Oh man if thats true this IS going to be interesting

Ok - I think we should continue to use this thread to discuss the situation - as any plan from here on will likely involve two or more of the other civs.

I have sent a note to Lego asking what their plans are and how we can help. I felt like we have a moral obligation to do it. I mentioned giving up a city - which would seriously hurt us if they took us up on the offer. But again - I felt it was the least we could do.

I am going to see if ND will send ecology and a future tech, instead of radio, or 60 turns of luxuriies. I think we should try and stay relatively close to ND, but keep it quiet. They are technologically advanced.

As for radio, I think we should accept GoW's offer. In the short term, they and secondarily GS are the ones we want to keep happy - as they can provide land. So, I am going to talk up the relationship with GoW.

And with GS, who unfortunately get left out of our tech dealing, I will try and swing a future tech, or 60 turns of luxuries. Anbd I will make nice with them as well.

Any comments on the above? Any thoughts on our dealings with RP?

Beta, I totally agree with your appraisal there. Definitely give a city to Lego if they ask, although I hope they don't ... they certainly came to our aid when we were in our darkest hour ...

I think that if GoW can be convinced to give us some of exLegoLand, then we should be willing to give them sweet deals for a while. Definitely worth finding out if they plan on sticking with GS until ND is out, or if they're going to go it solo for a while ...

On a side note - can I get added to the list of people who get the save? I'd like to see the turns, perhaps I could be more involved if I actually saw each one in-game
