The king has died. Long live the king!

    * Roberto kneels in front of Justino

May the spirit of your father find his place at the right side of God. Let's give him the burial of a King, with the participation of the five Cardinals of Spain, as only a King deserves. And after your father rests in peace, you will guide the kingdom to the Glory with your wisdom and determination.

      Farewell, Augusto.

      Long live King Justino Togas!

My liege, I would be honoured to serve Spain. During my travel to Madrid, I saw much of Spain, her strengths, and her weaknesses. If he agrees, I would very much like to work with Commander Astrologix to address those few weaknesses I did see, and to assist in creating contingency military plans, both offensive and defensive.

Should hostilities ever break out with the Arabs or the Chinese and Spain, you can count on the Dejon family to lead the charge on our enemies.

I am in favor of Justino carrying on where his father left off. The Togas family has meant a lot to Spain and her people. Spain has prospered for many years, and I forsee that it will continue to do so under the rule of Justino Togas. Long live the King!

This is most sad news May the Lord hold the spirit of your father close to him in Heaven, and may He guide you on Earth as He did your father. I will support your ascendacy as King of Spain.

The king has died. Long live the king!

Sad times, but promising times too !

Justino, you are young as me and under your leadership Spain will reach new pikes of his Glory !!

My father, Don Pelayo, has given to me all his powers. He thinks that he is too old today to continue to lead the Spanish armies and he knows that I am a clever general as he is. I hope that you will agree with him.

With the help of the other military minds of our country, I'll create new plans to defend our lands and possibly to gain new territories at the North.

I'll open new ideas at the Military Strategy and The Spanish Army rooms as soon as the burial of the King Augusto will be done (OOC : tomorrow, I'm RL busy today).

In a stirring and uneasily silent ceremony, the body of King Augusto Togas, wrapped in the finest silks, was carried by the Madrid Swordsmen from the Palace to the Temple of Madrid. Senechel Davout lead the procession, protecting the King's body even after death. Cardinal Tacticus precided and gave a brief message to the great masses that had assembled. The Queen, Isabella, and many of the Royal family were present. Justino, however, was not.

When the service was concluded the Swordsmen of Madrid, lead by the Senechel, took the body of the King down to the Rio Tajo where a large funeral pire has been errected. Beside the pire stood Justino Togas, the young Jaguar Dejon, and Ricardo Fernandez. No words were spoken. The body was placed atop the pire, Cardinal Aidun Cian the older sprinkled the body with holy water, then Justino Togas took a lit torch and ... after a long uncomfortable pause ... set the pire alight.

For countless hours the great pire burned sending smoke and ask high into the skies above Madrid. The shops remained closed, no workers toiled in the fields outside the city. When the fire finally burned itself out, those who remained by the pire ... Justino and a few others (feel free to state), gathered the ash into baskets with iron tools and ceremonially tossed the ash into the Rio Tajo.

Shortly after the last ashes are set adrift...

My King, words cannot express our loss. I feel a special sense of loss as well -- almost a guilt. The Dejon and Togas families had a bond. We fought together, constructed Madrid, and hunted together. Dejons have served as Chief Warriors and Trusted Advisors.

Yet here I stand at the conclusion of one of the greatest Togas' ever - and I realize that the Dejons failed the Togas for an entire generation. Fletcher Dejon was a very wise man, but his foolishness in following your grandfather to the grave cost Spain mightily.

My liege, I hope to right that wrong. The Dejon family is renewed and growing stronger, and we will once again be the sword arm of the Togas'.

When you are ready, seek me out, and I will tell you a tale, the story of how I learned that I was a Dejon, and my journey to Madrid. Now is time for grieving though, and I will leave you to your memories...

Jaguar Dejon looks out down the Rio Tajo one last time, and then walks slowly away.

Though I publicly promised to select the finest bottle of wine in the cellars of the Governor's mansion and to pour it the Rio Tajo in order that I could honor our departed captain, I did not mean to pass it through my kidneys first -- those were the actions of a grief-stricken man with an alcohol problem.

I would like to formally apologize for such a inadvertently-disrepectful display. I am actively seeking help with these issues... and deliberately not finding any.

                      Long live Justino Togas!!!

                        This is most terrible news.

As you know, I hurried back from my brother's graveside on the other end of our country to be with my Lord King in this, his final hour. But alas...my carriage was slowed by monkeys throwing nuts at the wheels.

                        You see...

                        Cardinal Spalding:

                        "I went into the jungle,
Where all the monkeys throw nuts!"

                        Gastronome:

"If I stay here I'll go nuts!"

                        Chorus:

                        "Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!"

Sadly, by the time I had arrived, the King was dead as a doornail. He had croaked. He was like an iced catfish. And the whole country mourned.

Lord, have mercy upon his soul, as you have mercy upon us all, Dear God, for it is not in us to show the mercy You show. Your mercy is endless and infinite, without end, and without beginning. It is eternal and constant, and it raineth down upon us. We sin, Lord, and are fallen, but You see into the hearts of all men. Graciously accept the soul of Thy Servant, King Togas, into Thy bosom, so that he may find peace eternal. Amen.

                        Cardinal Calamari
                        Empire growing,
                        Pleasures flowing,
Fortune smiles and so should you.

It is indeed terrible news. I hope that Crown-Prince Justino Togas will overcome this.

When will the official coronation of Crown-Prince Justino Togas be held. If it is after my coronation to Pope, Justino Togas an be the first Spanish king that was officially crowned by th Pope, but I leave it up to the Crown-Prince himself to decide.
