  • Grave News!

Something horrible has happened! King Augusto Togas has fallen ill, and not even the doctors and wisemen from La Academia know what is wrong. He is being attended to constantly the wisest men in Spain but we are unsure that he will live much longer.

He has called his wives and many children to his side, and we will be by his side throughout this. We pray hourly that he will live, but we fear the worst.

He has asked me to call all of his Lords and Nobles to his side. He wises to make peace with all of you and impart his last wishes ... should he not live much longer. He wishes to see that Spain is well taken care of should he prematurely leave this world.

I urge you all to come to his side now, in this dark time, and meet with him now.

Should my father pass away, he has told me that I, his oldest son, will take the great responsibility of being crowned King of Spain. I don't wish to think about that now, I am too grief stricken and worried about him. But if that comes to me, then I will talk with you in great length and hope that you will serve me the way you have loyally followed my father.

Fortune has shon on him far too long to ever turn to shadow. I shall sacrifice 100 of Pamplona's finest bulls to celebrate his life and to, God willing, confer on this world the uninterrupted blessings of his glorious reign.

The great families of Spain declared Augusto Togas fit to be our King, and he is a grand one. I pray he recovers from this illness.

If he should pass, however, I must ask - does that show of confidence many years ago extend to the current generation of the Togas line?

When the various Señor Togas' ruled Spain in ancient times with an iron fist, it was to everyone's ultimate benefit. And at the beginning of this recent enlightenment, the wise Augusto sought affirmation of the great families to become their King. But what now? Are we to submit to the Togas line forever, because the families gave their alligience to Augusto? If Spain is as wise and learned as those at La Academia say, then should not the Togas descendant seek the great families confidence?

I should further say that such a request of support for Justino would merely be a formality. But it would show the world that Spain is truly civilized, and run by a wise leader.

Oh, what a terrible notice! I came here as soon as I learned that, interrupting the election of the Pope. How is he? I hope he gets better, but if that doesn't happen, my support is with the young Justino.

                      * Don Pelayo Astronicus and his son Constantino enters the room

                      Prince Justino,

How sad news have we today !

Your father was a friend of mine, as well as you are the friend of my son Constantino. Our family is proud to serve Spain and to be so close to your family. I am an old man too and my days are also counted. But you know my son and can be assured that if something arrives to me, Constantino has all my trust to serve you as well as I've served your father.

It's a shame that this occurs to us while the sounds of war are reaching our ears. But i'm sure that you and my son will lead our army as well as Augusto an me did.

                        Noble Lords,

I fear my father will not last many more nights. His breathing is very weak and it pains him greatly to speak any louder than a whisper.

He will try to hold on, I am sure, but I fear he will leave us soon. Please, if you have not yet come to see him, there is little time left.

Let us all pray that King Togas will live. Spain would be a poorer place without him, and we are more in need of his wise leadership than ever.

/me kneels down in prayer for a few moments, then stands and begins leaving the room.

I shall light candles for you in the Church of Madrid, and shall make sure that there will always be at least one priest there praying for your recovery. May the Lord have mercy on you, and on us all.

Though I have not known your father, my King, for long, my heart felt sympathies go out to you and your great family. May the Togas family continue to rule all of Spain to the end of time.

                              Great Lords of Spain:

My father passed away last night.

The long reign of King Augusto Togas, the first King of Spain, has ended.

I really don't know what to say. I am horribly sad right now and still in shock and uncertain how to go about running this nation that my father has ruled over for my whole life. I ask for all of you to come to Madrid as the nation mourns the death of its King. After we have properly honored him, please meet with me as there is much to discuss and much to understand.

I hope that you will honor my father's wish that I suceed him as King of Spain. If you do, please voice your support so that the nation remains in order during these difficult times.

Should I be crowned King, I will then begin the difficult task of reviewing my father's government and ministers and deciding if things should remain the same or if changes should be made.

Any Private Messages you wish to send me will be carefully considered.
