We don't need tons of defensive units in year 3000AD. We need them now... I recommend you to look at the militar advisor screen again and to the swordsman Madrid Expedition discovered last turn (he is probably less than 10 turns away from our cities because of their roads! and they probably have other swordmen closer!). Repeat until you are frightened enough.

And two facts about the expansion:
Among the 6 known civs, we already are the most expanded one.
We haven't stopped our expansion. Pamplona is filling that role.

However, I would like to point out that Pamplona cannot continue to fill it alone. I pray that other cities will step up occassionally in the future with a Settler here or there, as time and circumstance permit.

Yeah. We need to balance the expansion a bit. The military buildup is of uttermost importance, but a settler here and then, would even benefit to this buildup.

The only significant drawback I can see, is that the Madrid population will drop to 3, thus lowering it's production for a while. However, Madrid cannot grow bigger with its current configuration so it's just an opportunity we have if we want to expand now. Basically, what I was asking for:
Can the barracks be built in time built before the road completes?
Thus, will a Settler significantly delay vet.Horse/Sword production ?
My words are backed with hard coconuts.

With ND not answering any of our messages, I would wait a bit more before "balancing" military and expansion. Just my opinion. In a few turns we will see.
