In 3 turns, the second group of warriors from the Explorers Guild will be ready to leave Madrid. Where should they go? From my various explorations around Madrid, I've heard tales of more wet, jungle-like regions towards the North ('El Ecuador') and more dry, desert-like countries towards the South ('El Tropico'). Our first priority should be to find a suitable place to build our 2nd or 3rd city. Therefore, I'd send our second group of warriors to the North where the lands should be more fertile.

I second this. I beg His Lordship to put this into consideration. It may be worth our while to explore the north first, as it appears to be more fertile and productive than the harsh, dry south.

Talk about fertile north and dry south is very general, in the direct vicinity the south (or south-west, west) might be more fertile, as indicated by the river beyond the mountains which were just explored.

The west is, of course, the spot into which we must expand. The south, though, the general south, looks to be very dry indeed.

Well, I agree then. To have the best chance at success, we will have to explore the north. But our first warrior (the TEG) should continue to explore the west.

I am concerned that once we disturb the village to the south east of our city that barbarians may emerge.

Does anyone else share my concern?

We may want to hold back our 2nd warrior in Madrid until we know for sure what lies in that village.

I am also concerned. [ooc] It is rare in my games when this is allowed to happen and barbarians don't pop out. [/ooc]

I've just tested this with the editor : I made a city with all its radius filled with goody huts.
                      - when the settler built the city, 0 hut out of 8 produced barbarians.
                      - when the city radius expanded, 3 huts out of 12 produced barbarians
So... a barbarian assault is possible!

                        * Poupon, son of Señor dejon, escort to TEG addressed his charges, who have just finished climbing a mountain peak

Why, that is beautiful valley below us! Okay, explorers, where next?

Where to, now, members of our first expedition?

Will you follow the mountain range south west, or travel north east towards the origins of the River Tajo?

Terrific, what a nice view up here...
But let's pack up before dawn, and walk onwards.
First Poupon, lemme see the map!

Ahem! High Priest, is there a prayer or something you could say over Plaguerat? Some spirit is making him barf all over the place, which doesn’t put me in the mood for the Waterfall Festival. Madrid’s too small to avoid him for long...

A prayer would be good, but this potion will be better. He will throw up everything in his stomach all at once, and then will have nothing more to vomit.
