  • People of Spain, there is something wrong in the kingdom !

We are weak when we should be strong !

We are poor when we should be rich !

We are despised by the powerful civilizations when we should be respected and feared !

We lack vital technologies in dangerous times when we should be ahead of all others !

And now our freedom is confiscated by a pope who has alone decided to render justice without judges, without laws ! Noble men are trialed for no reason ! Tomorrow you could be condemned by this Pope because you have parked your carriage in a wrong place ! A civilization is sinking when the historical rights of the nobles are under attack !

How could all this have happened ?

Because the King let the Pope take over the secular justice.

Because the King, lost in his dream of diplomatic prowess did not realize that the really powerful civilizations did not bother to talk to him; because the trade of technologies resulted primarily in our financing the research of our competitors; because we wasted our resources in badly though adventures.

    What must be done ?

The Togas dynasty has given to Spain all what it was able to deliver; it is now exhausted and King Togas must be given an early retirement and a certificate for good conduct. Then the nobles should elect another King on the basis of a agenda aiming to master the current critical situation.

Spain is in great danger, all patriots must act quickly.

Shall I get the rope for the hanging of this naysayer King Togas?

To take care of judicial/secular matter's, perhaps the King can appoint judges to the "Kings Court"?

    [OOC]
Togas has done a very good job, sure all teams make mistakes when you have the benefit of hindsight to root them out.

IMO, Togas has done everything for the benefit of Spain and has done so with very good results. I support the continued rulling of King Togas in this Monarchy.

My above post has nothing to do with the actual performance of Togas. It is a political statement. Political = Lie and bad faith.

For treason, which Senor Torquemada will soon be answering to, their can only be one court...the King's!

Let us form a law court in Spain once and for all, appoint Prosecutors and Defenders, and Judges. Ecclesiastical court is one thing, but we shall need the secular court to deal with treason.

          But what is this?

How now, egg? What find I here? A Torquemada starting a revolution? Unheard of! You men of Torquemada are loyal and brave, strong and wise, not foolish and brash. And why do you blame the Pope for all Spain's misfortune? Be thou a pea-wit, O Sorry Torquemada?

Nay! That cannot be so...for thou art no Torquemada that I know! This "Tomas" cannot be a real Torquemada, but an imposter! Yay! So it is, so I say! I'll wager 2 gold that he's just a disguised fishmonger of rank and dishonest origin!

So, so, thou stinketh, impudent fishmonger! I clappeth my nose in revulsion! The carp, it wreaketh off thy very marrow! O most sorrowful fishmonger! Know ye not that treason is a crime?

Aye, aye, let us form the secular courts, and bring to justice the treasonous rebels before us.

          Don Iago Calamari de Toledo

[ooc] DAVOUT, I'm just glad we've got Torquemadas in this kingdom! [/ooc]

OOC: If you had posted this before Roberto's confession he would have chimed in in agreement...well, depending on the outcome of the trial he still may do so .

[ooc] Errrrr...de la Civ's crime was actually against the Church's ruling...he shouldn't have been tried in the secular courts. That's only if, say, Don Calamari gets found with a knife in his back and a note signed 'The Mysterious Bob Calamari' pinned to his lapel. Then it'd be a murder case in the secular court. [/ooc]

Guards! Arrest this man! immediately! Put him in the dungeon! Is anyone else willing to keep this Torquemada company?

The Swiss Guards arrest Torquemada and take the shouting and insulting man away.

I demand Señor Libre to collect evidence against this man. I cannot tollerate someone to insult me.

Cardinal Winterius, prepare for trial. It should be a short one this time.

This is an Heresy at it´s maximum stage, but also a rebelious action. An insult against a God-chosen king and against the Father of the Church. Cardinal Calamari can only be correct that it is a fake Torquemada. Either way, this Torquemada/fishmonger/rebel/whateverheis shall be judged accordingly. I shallbe talking to The King and to The Pope about this case and I shall see to it that all proper laws are followed. As a member of the nobilty and as a member of the clergy I shall acomplish mine task.
I kindly ask that all the nobles here present please keep this case confidential. We don´t want the masses to hear these talks about Republikahnishme.

Aye, a meeting of Church and State is needed for such a capital crime, for it is at best capital as best crime is when best...errrr...and so on.

High treason against the Crown, heresy against the Church. These are the two most dreadful crimes to be committed, but together...I must say, it is terrible indeed.

The pope and his throat-cutters should be cautious : I am not talking to them but to the people of Spain who decides everything in last resort.

I have given this matter to the chuch and to the Holy court of the Inquisition to decide.

Men should not be judged by men. It is far better to have them judged by the servents of God, who's wisdom and justice are far greater than that which rules the savage hearts of men.

Yes, let Senor Libre begin this trial at once!

Torquemada thinks he speaks to the people of Spain, but doesn't realize that all they want is a good barbeque.
