    For those who has not seen 4000BC start loc, its on a river (settler was on hill) moved Settler SW to reg. grassland on river and moved worker due south where it will (mine I assume) shield grassland next turn when we make city.

    City radius specs:

    Grassland - 3/4 - 1 river
    Grassland Shield - 2/3 (one grassland obscured) - 1 river
    Grassland Forest - 2 - 2 river
    Grassland Forest w/spices - 1 - 1 river
    Plains - 5 - 1 river
    Plains Forest - 1 - 1 river
    Hills 5 - 4 river

    Total squares with river bonus: 11

    Sounds good. I agree we should mine. I'm thinking we should poll Trip's overall 'worker behaviour', heh heh

      Looks a great city site, we can see some nice coast to the east near the mountains, perhaps we can build a port sometime.

      I think we should start buildign a warrior actually though i voted spearman in the poll (poll was too narrow anyway)

      Well done Dan for the first turn and trip for advising.

        I cant vision the exact scenario, but it sounds as if it might have not been to obad to just settle the city on the starting position. No matter where you settle, the town square bonus is 2/1/1.

        I could use the save file and the password so i can see the game. Anyone has it?
        :-p

          I'm not sure, but from a literal interpretation of the description, I believe though the start was on a hill, which is good, it was not on the river, whilst the new spot is. That hill likely gave us a good view which allowed us to see what sounds like a beautiful starting position.

              Hold on - now I gave this a little more thought...

              a) I had not been noticed the game had started yet, and had therefore not seen any saved game;

              b) I'm running for Minister of the Interior (poll: 9 - 1 - 0) and would therefore think that I have something to say about city placement and the moving of any workers;

              c) I asked in another thread 'who is going to play the game' but got no clear answer; now, someone who is not the administrator is playing;

              d) You MOVED the settler (using up a turn) without even consulting us?! Was the hill next to a river? We might have settled there, or at LEAST discussed it.

              As you can probably tell, I am not happy with the way things went. Any explanation?

                This is a clear exmple of the fact that a demo game is unplayable if you can't post images in the team forum.

                  At the time, Trip wasn't in the room, and the only other person from LI online who had PTW was CiverDan, so responsibility fell to him. (EDIT: AFAIK, that was the case. I was in the room before and after Dan played, but not during. Trip had handed off responsibility for playing the first turn to Dan beforehand.)

                  In the chat, I found out that the hill was, in fact, on the river (so was the new site). The reason for moving was because there was a hut that would have been popped immediately upon settling. It's no closer to the luxury (NW-NW before, N-NW after).

                  If someone has webspace somewhere, contact Trip, CiverDan, or Admiral PJ (all three have the start image), then upload it. In the meantime, bug MarkG so he'll allow us to post attachments in the team subforums.

                    Wat BFM said has some truth to it. All ministers should have recieved the sav file if not an image so they can chime their ideas. Heck regular members present should have recieved some kind of image as well.

                    I have a geocities webspace i dont use (comes with yahoo account). I gues i can make a shoddy page with links to images and save files...

                      Present how, where and when? Which "room"? What time? I didn't even know that the game had started out in such a place! At what time did we receive the emailed save game? How long did we have to study it?

                      It is essential to keep each other informed about these things!!

                          #LuxInvicta on IRC. (Invite-only, BTW.) We got the save circa 1900 ET last night (not sure on that, though).

                          I don't know how long Dan studied it. I wasn't in there when the save was played.

                          As it happens, either Dan or the guy on VC who played is responsible for AP being inadvertently turned on (meaning we need to replay the first turn for the last few teams).

                          Calc, I have no idea if Trip has PTW or not. (I think he does, he just wasn't around.)

                            I hope we can replay it. Was the turn played in the chatroom itself?! That way, people who were asleep during that time (due to being in a different time zone) could not have attended.

                            Which IRC system are you referring to? Undernet? Dalnet? ...

                              #LuxInvicta on the Apolyton server. Here's how to access the Apolyton IRC server.

                              AFAIK, most of the teams, LI included, did their turns in private chatrooms. Yeah, it's a problem for those not in any American time zone, unfortunately (as we discovered with MWIA and the Civ3DG, as you know).
