What should Jackson be building?

I guess I should somewhat describe the advantages/disadvantages of the other options.

Building a temple would give us more culture. Happiness wise it doesn't matter much, see the Do we want to try for the Great Library? thread.

Building military units or barracks/walls would strengthen our deffense and indirectly speed up our expansion. Military units also can be used to prevent disorder, although it appears that this effect comes into play in 4+ size (perhaps 5+) size cities (again see the Do we want to try for the Great Library? thread for a limited "happiness" discussion).

Building a granary would speed up the growth in Jackson. For your reference, it costs 60 shields.

Building a settler would directly speed up our expansion.

Building a worker would (probably) mean more tiles to work on.

Building Wealth would increase the amount of gold we have.

Any of the above would slow down our wonder building. Building the Palace would deprive us from all the above but it would increase the probability that we can build a Great Wonder and we might even get to choose which one.

Feel free to edit my post if you have better arguments.

I believe that Jackson should be designated as a wonder building city immediately and therefore should start working on a Palace as a wonder placeholder.

Voted for the Settler (current setting). I do not believe we are that hard pressed for the wonder. Even though getting the Library or the Lighthouse will be important, it is even more important to REX now, grabbing as much land as possible.

Once we have 4 cities supporting the REX phase, we can let Jackson go wonder building (and even then, I would consider building one more military unit there... as building a Merc would actually delay the completion of the wonder by three turns only, archer by two turns only, assuming the net shield output of 11 shields in the later stages of the wonder construction).

Obviously, granary or barracks makes no sense, as these are improvements suited for a city building workers/settlers or military units. A city building a great wonder does not need them.

delmar...you confused me a bit (which is very easy). I was looking for the Wonder option and there is none. From your message, I understand the the Palace is just a Wonder place holder.

In that case, I voted for the Palace.

Even though I'm a dedicated builder and sometimes I build wonders even when I shouldn't have to, I think we ought to REXing as fast as possible.

The best building order for Jackson would be IMHO:
- settler
- mercenary
- Great Lighthouse (Palace)
- Collossus (Palace) (but maybe we will buid the Collossus in Panama, we'll see)
- temple or settler first and then temple

Settler. The more cities we have, the less an issue putting aside one for wonder building becomes.
