Your joke was funny. It's what I call a Dad Joke (not Bad, but Dad...a joke that Dad's commonly say). In any case, I am a Dad (3 small boys) and I thought it was funny.

Maybe we can schedule a regular turn chat. That way we could discuss simple decisions on the spot. For example, we could schedule a chat every other day (M,W,F, Sun) or even daily. If it is at the same time every week, then Legolanders will know when to tune in. Having other's in on the decisions would help the President or VP greatly.

I propose that a daily scheduled turn chat. The turn can be played at that time. I am at a loss to propose a good time. For me, my shedule is crazy but I'll should be able to attend all Weekday chats.

No kids yet, but as you can see, I am training ahead... The "joke" was actually a product of rather desperate effort to have something to write into the Chronicle... as I had no idea why Jack fortified instead of leaving Legopolis, I was trying to think up something that would be likely to survive almost any explanation. Putting together a rumour or two seemed to work fine...

This is actually a very good idea. The only problem right now seems to be the chatroom. It keeps behaving rather weird... I plan to play a bit with mIRC and see what can be done to have a truly safe place to gather. But as I have never been using IRC until last Dec 1, this year it will take me a couple of hours to get the grasp of it... Once I am done and the room is set up reliably, I will tell everybody. Daily chats would be very fine, even if not attended by everybody, every day. We could try making logs regularly, making them available through our service website and private forum, so that even members missing them could quickly skim through, making sure they did not miss anything crucial.

For me, times like 2pm-4pm and 9pm-11pm GMT would probably be the very best... but as most of you already know, I'm almost always on (even if doing some RL business), so it would probably be no problem to join at any time.

I like the 9pm - 11pm slot. I am -6 GMT, so that would put me at 3 pm. I can chat at work while doing RL business.

          YES!!! We have luxury!
Now we have more information. Some quick thoughts on the news:
The worker, after finishing the road+mine on the bonus grassland should move east and build a road to connect our capitol with our future second city and the luxuries.
Also I suggest building our second city on a jungle tile, effectively saving some precious jungle-clearing turns. Where should we put exactly the city we won't know until we do more exploration.

Good job, Cowa ... ahhhh... Howard!

Good points Tiberius! I guess Howard's next move is to the mountain top (south)? I hope finds more clothing. Even at the equator, it can get cold up there.

Actually, I thought about sticking to the E/NE direction, following the hill range. Howard is supposed to get as far as possible and climbing the Gold Peak would cost him two turns better spent elsewhere... As we are likely to find just jungle to the south of Gold Peak, I think we can leave the Gold Peak to someone else...

I support saving Gold Peak for later, to avoid back-tracking. I also think the coastal jungle square two tiles east of Legopilis would be an exellent site for our second city. This site has everything:

                1. It is two squares away from Legopilis on a diagonal, providing quick defense with minimal interference between city radii.

                2. It would be coastal, providing numerous benefits.

                3. It would claim luxuries.

                4. It would have THREE bonus grassland tiles even with no culture.

                5. It would be on top of jungle, saving worker time as suggested by Tiberius.

As for the name of the city, how about Plastictown

Hah, only Legopolis has reached the size of 2! All the other capitals have only 1 pop.

I noticed that, too. We definitely have the best starting position. And we have a good (maybe great) 2nd city. I'm glad to see the desert is small. The jungle worries me, but with our talent we can handle it.

Looking at the new shots, I think we might want to rethink the second city placement. With that cow now available, moving it one north of the originally suggested position may be a good move. That will give the city 3 bonus grassland, as well as a cow. That, my friends, is good stuff.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

I think we should place the city on the hill then. It will be still coastal, and would have all 3 of the bonus grassland tiles around + cow.
I always feel it's a bit of a waste to plop down a city on a bonus grassland.

I believe we should stick to our previous plan. The cow will allow another decent city be placed on that hill NW from the goody hut. The jungle site on the coast is just fine enough, let's not put all the bonus things we have into one or two cities. The area to the north, across the desert, may be a bit difficult to settle, and the cow would make it easier to have at least a half-decent city there (temple needed, of course).

Even though I may change my mind based upon what we find further north, I do not think it would be that much of a change. Remember: for quite some time, no city will be able to work more than three or four tiles. The jungle coastal site has enough of good tiles, so let other cities benefit from those that could not be worked anyway.

I have to agree with Vondrack. The cattle will be worked anyway, regardless of the second or third cities.

I think I'll wait before I make a decision. After all, we are not even building a settler at this time. There's a lot of map to be discovered.

I would like Howard to explore the northern area west of that village before making a final decision on the site for City #2.

It looks like there is grassland there and if it is shielded, the hill would make an excellent site (hopefully the cattle would be included in the border if City site #2 was built on the coastal jungle square as originally planned).

If the grassland isn't shielded, then the hill might be needed for its extra shields later.

A more immediate question for Howard's exploration is: do we move into the villlage next turn (3500bc)?

I say yes! The worst thing that can happen is to unleash a horde of barbarians which would probably kill off our worker and Howard, possibly plunder our gold and kill our Legopolis warrior (Conan would probably escape). While that would hurt us badly, it can be recovered from in time.

However, the possible benefits of the hut outweigh that risk in my opinion. A free tech would be very useful, as would a free unit (especially if it mounted), or extra gold (a settler or city would be really nice !) Even a small barbarian release would probably be defeated by Howard to our benefit if he gains experience.
