With all due respect to our american contingent - was there anything important to be discussed? Something so important, that the plans for this very turn would have had been changed, something hidden even after 11 hours of sitting on the save ?

The other teams are taking a long time with their turns,
That's irrelevant. All the teams are taking the time necessary for a proper planning. They are at war, so the situation changes every turn. What was so different for us this tun, to justify a longer delay? The location of saltpeter resources? Sure, what should we have done about it?
When we will be at war or will have some truly important decision to take, we will sit on the save 24 hours, be sure about it, regardless of who will play it, americans or europeans.

The other teams are taking a long time with their turns, so there was no need to only take 11 hours for our turn (twice as fast as most have been recently).

So next time, when we ask to hold the turn , hold it for at least 18 hours so that we all get a chance to look at it and make comments on it.
Steve, the reason to hold the turn was to discuss the possibility of connecting saltpeter ASAP. As the earliest we can reasonably do it is about 8 turns - which is what we are going to do anyway - there was no need to hold the turn. The saltpeter resources are placed in such a way that we will easily get one within 8 turns - but speeding the connection even by 1-2 turns would require too much of an extra investment, like building a colony or a crappy city (Sandonorico) first, with no real benefit.

Is there anything you would like to see played differently? I was quite confident about no changes were necessary - that was why I went ahead and played the turn.

      • The MAJOR REASON for waiting is BECAUSE several members on the team suggested it ! That's good enough of a reason for me...

I wonder how many of us North American players were even awake or on their computer by 10:30 am Eastern/9:30 Central on a Sunday? It is highly unusual that I was already up, normally I wouldn't be on the computer that early.

Why did they suggest it? Because there was a possibility our plans posted several days ago would need to be adjusted to accomodate for the locations of saltpeter on Legos Major. However, it turned out that saltpeter appeared in such places that connecting it was not a matter of this or next turn. So, why delay the game uselessly?

Pardon me, but I tend to consider not only the fact that several members suggested holding the turn. I consider also WHY they suggested it. IMO, if the reason for holding the turn is voided, there is no need to hold it, correct? Save for the saltpeter discovery (which turned out to have no immediate effect on our short-term plans - or do you think otherwise?), there was nothing special about this turn. Should we have waited for everybody else to say 'yeah, no changes needed, let's proceed as planned'.

Besides, I did hold the turn for several (6+) hours - I was able to play it in the morning my time (see my response to Zargon's "been at the bar" post). I did not play it, left home, and played the turn only after coming back - and even then, I kept the save to allow others to look at it. Sent the save on only after seeing another team member (Tibi) reviewed it, finding no issues.

Let me ask again: is there anything you would like to see played differently this turn? Because if not, I don't know what's the point of this discussion?

          • Got the save, reviewed it - and with the exception of Red Bricks WF (we should not work the gold mountain), there seems to be nothing to change in the plan.

Going to play the turn now (will try to be in the chatroom, too).

            • Arrian requested to have the saves sent to him, too.

              • The save is with us.

I have just woken up and am leaving in about 15 minutes. Back in about three hours - if nobody else plays the turn by then, I will (~10:00 GMT).

                • I have the save as well I'll load it up, and if everything looks in order, play it and pass it along.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

                  • Played through the turn, but there were a few minor issues that popped up, so I'd like others to look at it first.

There is one thing I believe asks for a small delay. I did not realize LEF2 would be moving onto the mountain that houses one of ND's saltpeters. As they have two workers adjacent to it, there is a fair chance they plan to move them there and start roading it on the next turn.

Fortunately, it's Thursday and the regular alliance chat starts in just few hours (6pm GMT). I'll confirm whether it is ok to move LEF2 as planned (NE onto that saltpeter tile) and play the turn then. If they intend to move their workers there, I will get the clearance to go via a different route.

                      • OK, got the info - going to play the turn now.

I will be in the chatroom.

EDIT: moves/actions already posted; I am going to hold the save until I am done with the images, so if you happen to be online, have a look and post, if you find anything.

                        • Save with us. It's a replay of the last turn (280AD), so I am going to replay precisely as posted in the Chronicle and forward onto GS immediately.

                          • Save with us. I am going to review it and if there is nothing special, I will play the turn. The plan has been up for many days now.

One thing: Aggie (GoW) asked for our lux to be resent. (the trade was cut because of the fake war).

                            • I have recently received several PMs from GS members, asking me to send the PtWDG save to them, too. Just to make sure they get it even if it is not me playing our turn, I am including the full list of GS members to be sent the save here (replace the commas with @s):
