    Three cheers to Lego!
Three cheers to all of us!

I'm disappointed it had to end like this, but I'm trying to look at it this way: We gave a two-team gangbang a run for its money. As they've said in the discussion threads, we foiled their plans at almost every step up until this last breakthrough for GS. Things did not go nearly as well for them as they planned; GS got their naval backbone broken, and GoW took some bad casualties on the ground.

And Vondrack, thank you for carrying the torch for so long. You pulled almost all of the weight for quite a while, and continued to pull most of it through this war, I feel guilty for not getting involved more back during the years of peace.

I think this game definitely changed my mind about the idea of "abandoning cities" This is the second time that it happened to me, and it sooo unrealistic.

One small mistake, and you are toast. And how? This has no historical or realistic ground. None whatsoever.

I have to agree there. I hope Civ4 only allows you to destroy a few improvements & pop points a turn.

Yeah... but know what, Tibi? This game has become number crunching and mechanics twisting/exploiting excercise very long ago. Civ3 has historical/realistic grounds only when you play it as SP with decent house rules (or if you do not know about all those naughty tricks like combat settlers, transport chaining and the like).

I myself am going to take a very long break from Civ3. Maybe never coming back. Playing as an, uhm, "elite player" means you focus on abusing all kinds of flaws left in the game by its designers/programmers. OTOH, not using them... I can't help but feel like I'd be trying to run with my legs tied... schizofrenic attitude, indeed.

I gotta say that the very core design, turns divided to "subturns" during which only one player plays and all others helplessly watch (or not even that... ) has become the main problem for me. What I would like to try would be a game where ALL players would play (or, rather, PLAN) at the same time and then there would be a resolution phase changing the situation. Rinse and repeat. Kinda like the Diplomacy board game I played so much with my friends many years ago.

Anyone knowing an MP computer game like that?

My lips bound to remain sealed... but you may wish to try holding your breath, Kloreep...

I guess I better stop posting in the public forum. One or two more posts like the last one by DeepO and I burst.

They're still the same old strat guys, our elite.

Yup, just ignore them. We may still have a few surprises for them yet
