Northern warrior went one extra tile East as I could just bairly glimpse the water but will now go back west. We can see the edge of Demogyptia's borders to the south.

6 turns to completion of our first settler and 2nd settlement.

Well, you now have the roleplay minimap, so we could either send the southern or northeastern warrior to go make contact with them. I say the northeastern, so the southern can continue in that direction.

Discovered a Spice Resource. Looks like the Neu Demogyptians found a Settler in a hut as I don't see how they could have built a Settler and second city otherwise.

Either that or they have a great food resource (like wheat on flood plains) so they can start building a settler early.

Got the Wheel, but neuDemogyptia already has it and it does us no good in trade.

The "H" tiles (two of them) show where the Horse resource popped up. I marked three sites for our first cities, all three sites are on a hill adjacent to a river.

How about the Central city moves SW 1 tile...(Same effect you want, but no overlap) ?

And what if the western city moves North 1 tile.
You dont get the city on a hill, so defense bonus.
You also dont get the gems in the border until a temple is built.
                        but....
You get the bonus cow tile immediately
And the horses are also immediately in the border, and you dont need to waste a worker.

The eastern city is a little risky, but we dont really know the land yet...I prefer to let our warriors explore a little more.

Are we still going to have "Forts" ?
I used this technique (thanks for the idea GhengisFarb) in my last game.
I ended up on cornered a tight peninsula so it happened out of necessity really....but it did work.

With human opponents, it may be more important to have a land grab first. Against the Emperor AI, I usually only build 2 extra cities before expanding by conquest.

Moving the Central city would crowd out city sites along that coast. I think we decided to go with overlap as we want to cover all our tiles. I specifically want these first cities on hills with rivers for defensive and growth reasons. We will probably go to war quickly since Demogyptia and Lux are so close by and there isn't going to be much space for cities on this map size.

                            DELETED

Traded Demogyptia 1 gold per turn (20 gold total) for Ceremonial Burial. 19 turns to Horseback Riding.
