  • Mercenary contracts

We need to publicly announce a system for the proposed transactions.

    Like certain rules...ie

We will never divulge who we are employe by or any PM's requesting our services

Failure to pay according to the terms of the contract will result in our notifying our 'collections agency'

I was wondering if we could post any proposed contracts for vote and each lord could post whether they approved or not.

Perhaps we could hold collateral, say a city of theirs and upon full payment they would get their city back. Of course failure of payment means forfeiture of the city and potentially more.

Let's say "flexible payments plans available", we can take cash, tech, workers, and cities as forms of payment.

There will be a downpayment and/or per turn fee and/or completion payment. Depending on the contract and resources the payee has available.

get most of the money up front
        And the techs, workers, etc.

        who gets the money?
We do! If you mean who on our team, there is no minigame system as of yet, so this is irrelevant.

do all lords have to participate in the war?
You mean make units in their cities? I would think so, just the same as in regular wars where the emperor would give you build unit orders.

This brings up a good point. Are we going to assign units to specific players and coordinate their armies?

Each player buiding and organizing their military levy?

Gf i think the emperor should be commander in chief and have full control over all military units except for designated garrisons

After the development of mathematics, we can also request catapults. Since it was the AI that would prevent us from signing a peace treaty immediatly, we can tell the team that contracts us that we want X workers and X catapults. If they agree to the contract, they send us the units to a designated spot and we go and "attack" them with a single unit to make them ours. We then immediatly sign a peace treaty with them. They just essentially gave us the units. With no AI, the rep hit we would normally take makes no difference.

I can see the Emperor being in charge at first but I would like to have player garrisons as we grow later.

do the wars have to last five turns, or was that just an AI thing from Civ 3?

I voted against the mercenary stuff, but I can see now: I was wrong! This will be really fun!

I have just tested the one turn war deal in order for teams to give us workers or artilery. It works in hot seat mode. Should work in PBEM.

but the best turns are the first ones.
