I was also thinking of "Golden Age Contracts"

As part of a trade deal with the other teams, we promise to keep a simple warrior in our military. We do not upgrade him. We send him to the country that had ordered the GA contract and we fortify him inside their border (some where useless). They give us X gold per turn, X tech now and X tech when they want their GA. We then unfortify our outdated Warrior, and let him get killed by the Contracted teams outdated (but better then a warrior) UU.

This would work great with the Storm. Their UU comes so early, they won't be in position to fully utilize a GA.

Could also work with RP (stupid conquistedor can't beat anything) and both Lego (Carthage) and Vox (Persia) if it is a relitivly peaceful Ancient Age.

If we like this idea, DO NOT openly advertise it! Any one of the other teams could do this and under bid us.

This is good, we should try with the Builders too. They are going to get a GA anyway so we might as well get something out of it.

I would take everything up front though as there is nothing to say they wouldn't continue in war mode and we can't have any contracts or trades with someone we are at war with.

Unortho - should we send PMs to the FMs of the teams we are responsible for (as in not publically advertising it)? Of course we would have to decide that we are doing this - it could cost 1 shield/turn for us, depending on how many units we have. If they want a late GA, they better be paying us something very substantial!

What do we do if we have a GA contract with someone we get contracted to go to war with?

I say we tell the team that we will not use the contracted Warrior at all (even if he sees an undefended city) and that X gold per turn is suspended while we are contracted to fight them. Also tell them that if they kill the warrior out side of conrtact rules, we will not send them another one and it would nullify the GA contract. It would mean that all the gold and the tech they gave us for the contract would have netted them nothing.

How can teams trust that we will abide by our own contracts?

Simple logic says that if we violate even one contract, no teams will sign contracts with us and will throw off our entire stragity. It is in our best interest in the long term to follow the contracts no matter how advantageous a voilation oppertunity looks.
