  • We have saltpeter

We have salt peter and GS has none.
    From Lego:
Wanna hear more good news? There is not a single source of saltpeter on Stormia. And there is no source of saltpeter in the Spanish/GS-territory on Bob. The "closest" is W-W-SW-SW of Barcelona.

We have three sources, you have one (on Baby Bob, on the only mountain outside of your cultural borders), ND has two (one on the mountain where LEF1 is currently standing, W-W of Anagramaskus, the other one on the mountain E of Stonedina), 2 are sorta not fully claimed yet - the one nr Barcelona and the other NW-NW of Merida.

Do I see a Cav rush done to take GS out?

btw, did you check each GS city to see if there isn't saltpeter below them?

The logical thing now is this. We do a beeline toward military tradition and then kill them. also we get cannons on that route.

How do we best use this information .. assuming it is true.

A lot of people will know about it.. so could it ever be kept secret from GS/RP.

Should we allow Lego to continue the ruse of being friends with GS and let them sell Gunpowder to GS for gold.. thus reducing their funds.

Should be go on a media blitz and laugh at thier misfortune. What will happen ?
Will they (GS) give up and negotiate ? Get off bob ?

Or will they become reckless and attempt a big push to try and get their own source of saltpepper ?

              Just some random thoughts ...

I think we should publicly thank them for the 8 cannons they gave us the turn we gained the technology to upgrade them.

Just kidding, I am curious as to their silence. We could just act like it was nothing and assume the force we killed was so insignificant as to not necessatate a comment.

The silence is deafening. But I think that is largely in response to our silence. Also remember it is weekend and maybe somepeople are away. To be honest they would expect us to say something and think us too undisciplined not to. It surprises and confuses them. Anybody have contact with anybody on rp/gs and have seen any reaction.
Now to the second idea that this attack is a trigger for an attack in the north. If it is, let them come. We have 12 riders in the north in this upcoming turn +4 horse. Additionally we can get sp from lego and produce muskets next turn. Any attack meets many musket. Also this would give lego an excuse for immediate and open war. Also lego forces will be stationed near macao for just such an eventuality.
Next, how do we explain GP. very simply we lie. We could have produced GP in 6/7 turns on our on. We have had invention that long. This reason also could cause GS to underestimate our forces. we couldn't have been upgrading the last turns if we had been researching. Will they suspect lego, yes!!!!, but can not know for sure. Also all they can see are ansars+3riders. So it is possible a large ansar force defeated their forces. My advice(and all must decided for themselves) is to wait to see our turn to make comment. However, a mention of unortho's charge and the "exteme luck of the ansar" might help some. Just to draw them out. mention nothing of our loses, say we sent 3 riders under the cover of night, even as spyiong rp Pikes took postion over the Alamo and RP was none the wiser. Maybe Gs would right it off as being unlucky. of course it is also possible that GS will see gp as only coming from lego, and thus say "sc@##w this "s@#t and attack, thinking they have nothing to lose and must win quick, which to be honest is true. Time strengthens us, not them. If they had moved this force5 turns ago without waiting for the road, they would have been safetly behind city waalls before our forces attack. To paraphrase napoleon, you can not get back time. GS proabbaly has already waitied to long. If this was a chess game I would at this point go into excahnge mode, meaning that my goal is no longer to get the advantage but to push the game to the end game with my current advantage(obviously of the opportunity presented itself I'd increase the advantage, but not with a risk). This does imply strategy in this situation since there are no GA's in chess and usually you can not get peaces in chess. But the point is that right now we have the advantage and maybe should push to kkep it as we go toward our goals, ie Barcelona. My suggestion, and it is only a suggestion, is that when we have 20 healthy units in "the alamo" we launch an attack with the healthy ansars toward barcelona. Hold to the hills in the 1st turn and second turn take a hill and fortify all on that hill. with 20 untis we could withstand ANYTHING he can throw at us and the following turn take Barcelona.

No, I want to thank them for the *COUGH* "worker" *COUGH* as well.

Anyway: you have one (on Baby Bob, on the only mountain outside of your cultural borders),

So, MZ, care to name the mountain?

I had named the one next to your city mount zen, I am thinking it should be something mystical...Since it's our island, I thought I would seek your input.

I will have 1-2 sections of Trappings up each day next week. Take it right up to that battle for the catapults, but not till Thrusday or so before I get that far. Wont do the gunpowder yet. Trying to think of how to do that ATM. Who discovers it? How? Can I say Lego traded? etc. Won't write that one till next week.

                        The CoFA speaks:

Silence, confusion and mystery are the order of the day. Our greatest asset is unpredictableness. GS expects us to do this, we don't. GS has no clue how strong we are. GS has no clue what techs and resources we now have. GS doesn't know where our forces are deployed. GS doesn't know how many Riders we produce per turn. The less GS knows about these kinds of things the more likely they will err in their judgment.

Remember, WE have the initiative now. GS from now on will act purely in a reactive manner. This doesn't say they weill turn defensive but rather, everything they do from know on is in response to what we do first. So, we have them in the best possible position ever in Civ3 warfare: where they have the "plan" initiative, but where our reaction is of unknown strength and can trade time for knowledge of the enemy's strength and position, and counterattack when we want.

UnO, feel free to name the mountain as you wish. I would have thought of something like Mt. Popo which is in homenage to the friggin huge volcano I have 30 minutes away from where I live

As Aggie stated the silence is most likely in response to ours.

I say keep it that way, will GS let RP know they just gave the opposition 8 Catapults within short distance to the RP capital? Are GS and Roleplay coordinating and sharing info all that well?

I don't think we should explain anything to them. Not the battle, not the sudden appearance of Gunpowder, nothing. The less we say the more bewildered and uneasy GS will be.

                              Here's what I did:

I looked up the meaning of the name Peter: Reliable.

Then in true Trappings Fashion, I consulted the Thesaurus for words meaning similar to Reliable. However, an ANTONYM caught my eye.

                              How about Mt Bunkum?

meaning: nonsense, full of sh*t, talking jibberish. I say that fits OUR island...
