Call me crazy but why don't we concentrate on building the Pikemen and catapults now since they won't be upgraded and switch to building the Horsemn once we get closer to Chivalry so that we don't have to upgrade them.

Its sometimes better to build a cheaper unit then upgrade. This way, we get more of those units. Of course, it costs more, but I'll try and keep enough money for the upgrades.

But its 80 gold per upgrade from a Horseman to a Rider.

Yes, 80 gold, but its 40 shield more to build.
Horse: 30 Shield
Rider: 70 SHIELDS

The more horse now, the more riders later (and quicker).

Which do our cities produce more of, shields or commerce? Any possibility of our selling Feudalism to the other civs for more gold?
