BTW, that ridge is defended by around 3 spears, 2 swords, and a couple of odd units (a catapult, e.g.) per tile right now. I wish I had more time to construct fortresses, I started on one the moment I got construction, but I do not have the luxury of suffocating in workers, like Nathan has. Don't blame it on poor gaming skills, but my terrain does not support it, I had Alex to keep happy / away, and I build the GL instead. A few turns delay of this war would have meant a totally different defensive situation, the hill without a road is set to build a city next turn (again, 1 turn too late to be useful, 2 turns too late to be superb.)

Very true, Alex. But I realised too late how peaceful the other 2 were. I have to apologise, as I fear that your faith has been signed as well. I'll do my best to keep all forces off your territory, but I need lady fortune to stand ground.

BTW, how are those reinforcements coming

Very nicely. Thanks for asking. Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't the one you were talking to?

My condolences to the families of the valiant sword unit that seems to have been assigned the job of pillaging the road. I wish I could say their deaths were painless, but, well, we did our best to kill them cleanly. In any case, they did prolong the lives of many of their fellows. (I'm curious, though: why swordsmen instead of spearmen for that job?)

But they were able to do nothing about my war chariots. I was pleasantly surprised at how well my charioteers did against fortified two-defense units on a hill, but I didn't have quite enough of them. Four Chinese units on the eastern hill survived, all with one hit point left.

        To Alva.

Auch, that is an impressive amount of units.

          to little china.

So is the outcome of the war so certain that we decided not to play it out?

More like DeepO didn't want to worry about the war here and Gathering Storm's war at the same time. Now that GS is on hold, though, is there any reason we can't start it back? My impression is that DeepO is still sitting on the save.

Sorry, you're right. Now, I can't keep using the excuse of the GS war to avoid my own doom

But, sorry, it'll have to wait till tomorrow, or later this night if I find the time, right now I can't...

Turn to Alexman. The beating continues, but I just built a new city. As said before, if this war would have started 2 turns later, I might have had a chance. Now? Not really.

But the RNG gods don't favor the underdogs, it seems. most if not all of Nathan's WCs survived their attack against fortified spears on hills, while my swords are less succesful against their swords on hills. I think I only killed 2, but lost a couple more Sure, you can win like that, pheh

Oh, BTW, I just build the first part of my palace, I think (didn't I build my lawn earlier when completing the GL?)

You should have built more palace and not lawn. Those War Chariots may ruin the lawn when they enter the premises.

From the Egyptian Bureau of War:

Chinese forces put up a valiant but futile fight for the hill outside their new city. Egyptian swordsmen captured two bands of workers (including one of Arabian slaves) and a Chinese catapult as the fighting wound to an end. Casualties were a bit lighter than expected. A probing raid on the city itself by war chariots led to the loss of a unit on each side.

                                Turn to Alva.
