  • Turn 61, 1500 BC

To be edited by the leaders of the Scholia.

    Status:
    - Researching Code of Laws at 100%, ready in 2 turns.
    - 46 gold cash, -2 per turn
    - Eye of the Storm's radius expands next turn.

    Urgent questions:
    - What to do with Lux Invicta?

    Military:
    - New settler heads down the road toward site #4. (Name, anyone?)
    - Zonk needs to either move 2 to verify that things are safe for our settler or move 9 to protect our settler.

    Economy:
    - Tempest finishes worker, starts barracks. (We can decide later whether to leave it at that.)
    - New worker in Tempest moves 6.
    - Worker 6 from Cyclone finished mine, starts road.
    - Worker on game forest finished road, starts irrigation.
    - Shift Tempest's laborer to an unimproved FP.
    - Shift EotS's laborers to work three FPs and an irrigated fur.

    Diplomacy:
    - Offer Writing to Lux in-game.

The Warrior North of Tempest. Couldn't he move a tile or two up the range to fill in that dim area?

Oh, and on my wishlist is, could please the player of the previous turn prepare the next turnthread, if possible right after playing the turn? Would be really great, because this way nothing important can be forgotten.

I'd say, whatever the outcome of any polls, we should move our warrior closest to Portia 7. But, at any rate, we should have prepared diplo messages to both Lux and Vox, and sent these before either of them has a chance to get their hands on the save. Never mind if this means we're going to need to keep this turn here for long...

There's no way we're ready to play the turn yet, but I went ahead and opened the save so we'll know what the situation is in our discussions. As a preliminary note, both ND and GoW are pestering us for Horseback Riding deals now, which is getting a bit annoying. (I rebuffed both attempts.)

I'm going to go ahead and send a screenshot so people can see what's going on.

            Screenshot's on its way.

Basically, the situation is that Vox played it smart and moved onto the mountain we would have attacked Lux from. They also moved their spearman to the tile their worker was working "9" from Portia. So Hack can't move into position to attack without Vox getting two shots at him defending in a jungle if they're willing to fight to save Lux. Odds would almost certainly be in their favor, although the cost would be very high if they lose.

On the plus side, Lux did not do a pop rush. So if Vox decides not to attack, or if they attack and fail, we should have a clear shot at the city.

Got another message from Vox this morning that I didn't have a chance to notice until I got home from work. It's in the ambassador's office.

Also, how many turns for us to research Map Making once we finish CoL?

Map Making would be 12 turns at our current pace.

We have a strong military compared with both Vox and Lux.

Should I go ahead and play the turn based on not attacking Lux, or leave it for Sir Ralph to play tomorrow morning U.S. time?

Okay, it's late enough that I'll leave this for Sir Ralph to play when he gets home from work. I posted a poll to (hopefully) ratify a deal NYE, Dominae, Theseus, and I hammered out with Trip in chat.

Since the overwhelming majority decided to let Lux live, there's no need to approach our troops. Unlike others, we will keep our promises.

I can play the turn this evening (for me), but my work load has heavily increased and I might not get home in time. If I didn't play the turn by noon Apolyton time (EST), please don't wait for me and go ahead.

I hadn't planned to stick around this late, but if your work situation is that troublesome, I may as well go ahead and play it.

How about moving 4, to the iron mountain, from which we have access to two different mountains overlooking Portia. That way, if we decide to enter Lux territory next turn, noone can prevent us from going on a mountain on the way in.
With any luck, Lux would interpret this move as an attempt to prevent them from seizing the iron mountain and fortifying on it (also a good idea).
