Nathan, Re: EuroPBEM deal of 40 turns:
    1) the comparison is a bit flawed, as I tried to avoid exactly that. I tried to give the incentive to them, if they want to keep peace for as long as the ancient age lasts they can, it's up to them. If they don't want that security, they can too, by cashing in their jokers fast... as they can choose when they end our non-aggresion commitment over the next 0-80 turns, they should feel pretty secure for the next 40 or so turns. And nothing says the deal needs to end there, by that time, other deals can be negotiated, or they could see it coming, and prepare for war.

    2) In the Euro PBEM game, I would not do it under those conditions. I couldn't care less if you agree to attack me right now, you can't force me one bit (you can't even attack my spears with anything other then an archer), so a non-agression deal is worthless. If, however, you would be willing to, let's say, 1000 gold + 40-turn non-aggression, we'd be talking, and I'll gladly retreat my spears. But I don't think you would be willing to do that, because 1000 gold makes me a risk to your own security, certainly once you move closer to me. I don't commit to 40 turns non-aggression... 1000 gold equals 25 swords... get the picture?

You wouldn't be able to get a deal on techs, by the way, as for the moment I've got all - or am about to get all - military techs I need to deal with Nathan and possible bold invasions from the North. I couldn't care less that I'm behind in comparison to you

Keep in mind that Vox is a relatively small team, so their ratio of posts to active participants isn't anywhere near as low as their absolute number of posts.

Something else about Vox's thread/post count: I'd be willing to bet that the Voxians do quite a bit in chat instead of on their forums.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about that. We have no chats, other teams can certainly be better prepared for that...

Re: screenies: Sir Ralph, would it be possible to ask for the score graph as well? I promise to try to do something useful with it

True... but if all their members are active as Eli once told me, then it's still a bad ratio.
Re: chats, it reminds me of how I helped Eli set up their secure chatroom. This is an option indeed...
Who first proposed a chat between GS and Vox, us or them? If it was them, then there's a higher chance that Nathan's hypothesis is correct.

Wow, so we have the most active forum, it appears.

Sorry I wasn't around for the military discussion (spearman/warrior, what to do) - I had volleyball last night and wasn't around. I'm also going to be out of touch for the next three days (skiing tomorrow, then off to NH for my gf's dad's birthday, back on Sunday, but I doubt I will have much time online... if so, it will be to keep current in my PBEMs).

I agree with the spearman move, though.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Yes, we should be proud of ourselves.
But stay on your toes - now that the cards have been flashed, the other teams will surely start taking the game more seriously and discuss it more thoroughly.
