I will return to the Seven Pillars.

How do we anticipate winning? Really, ask yourself that question.

Then ask how a given GW plays into that, and how strongly.

For a while, I thought that the GL might be a game-saver (as opposed to breaker), due to the risk of falling dramatically behind in techs by virtue of our isolation.

I am no longer concerned about that. And do I think the chances of it being a game-breaker are pretty slim.

Colossus? No way is that a game-breaker, just nice to have.

Pyramids... yeah, I can see it.

Sun Tzu... maybe, but probably unnecessary.

Leonardo, how do I love thee, let me count the ways.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Leo? With the extra amount of moneny that we get from the Colossus, it will eclise the amount that we save with leo. And we can use that money for more then one thing.

Leo will be doubly worth it if we don't get into a GA before that: as long as we weren't in a GA, we will be allowed to build WCs at 20 shields a piece. We can have got knights, and still build WCs, and upgrade them, but only with Leo will this really pay off... 80 gold per upgrade is a quite heavy investment.

But Leo isn't the problem yet, we can build a wonder in Hurricane, build some improvements or units, and still start on a prebuild that can end before we discover Leo's tech (engineering? Keep forgetting the name)

Keep in mind that in this game, we'll probably have a lot more early units than we would (or at least certainly than I would) in a typical SP game. Also, we'll probably be more willing to engage in "dirty tricks" like pillaging our iron supply so we can build and upgrade cheap units instead of building expensive ones. So the value of Leo's could be exceptionally high.

On the other hand, I was having thoughts myself that the value of Leo's compared with that of the Colossus is very easy to overrate. The Colossus gives its value a little bit at a time mixed in with the civ's other commerce, while Leo's gives big chunks all at once in a way that is almost impossible to ignore.
