I haven't thought to check the wonder screen. That would probably be a good idea, not that I'm expecting anything (and even if they start a wonder, the purpose is more likely to be to mess with our heads than to actually build one).

I check F7 every turn. Never saw a wonder being built there, except our prebuild.

Don't we need embassies to know if people are buildling wonders?

IIRC embassies are needed in 1.29, and I suppose this hasn't changed in PTW.

Well... we don't need embassies to see the wonders others are building, but you do need to have contacted them in-game. In 1.29 this certainly is true, and if the Euro-PBEM game is any indication, it still is under PtW (I can see Nathan's Colossus build, but have no embassy).

Being warned when a civ starts building a wonder depends on your preferences. So checking it every turn would be wise... those preferences change whenever you get a new save, it seems.

Strange, I specifically remember reading that embassies are needed to know what wonders another civ is building in one of the changelogs for the patches on civ3.com. Maybe this was changed in a later patch...

Having contact is enough. When a civ finishes a wonder, you will get a notice too, no matter if you have met them or no.

I've searched 'poly and the rest of the Internet for a while and haven't found any evidence supporting my claim, so I'll assume that you're right.
