Tinkering some with tile working, one more production brings us to second in Mfg. Goods, but we need four more to make it into a tie for first. Makes sense: someone has two cities each working two tiles with two production.

In GNP, someone has three less than us and our next closest competition is five back. We're tied for first in productivity, but of course our granary makes EotS's food worth twice as much as it would be otherwise. (Who says once you're in first, you can't find out how far behind people are?)

And yes, I made sure I set EotS back the way I found it.

Sir Ralph, what naming convention do you normally use for the save file for Demogyptica? Do you use GS_to_Demogyptica, GS_to_ND, or something else?

Hmmm, not entirely sure. I usually preset the value with clicking an earlier save and just edit the year. It's something like PTWDG_xxxxBC_from GatheringStorm.sav or similar. I'm sure it's a "from", not a "to", though.

Screenshots sent. I hope no one gets too upset at the 1600x1200 one, but that's the resolution I normally play at and I was afraid of what might happen to the text if I tried to shrink it with the software I have at the moment. (If anyone knows of a good, free program for editing screenshots...)

Sir Ralph, I'll use what you wrote there as a template for the save name.

Turn sent. I ended up abbreviating to GS because GatheringStorm was too long. Posted to the Saved Game Thread.

Yep, I'm very pleasantly surprised by how fast the game is moving.

                  Excellent.

Eye of the Storm being a size 5 city will tell all our opponents that we are either building a settler pump or building a wonder.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

Good, I hope they switch to the pyramids and build nothing for the next 60 turns

Have we decided on where to build the next city?

I still say we go for three

Even if our huge city is not daunting enough, I'm sure the other teams are kicking themselves for not setting up a Granary and Settler/Worker pump themselves. There is a bit of talk about this very strategy on the 'Poly boards recently, but I think it's obvious where GS stands.

Basically what I'm saying is: the F11 screen does not do much to help our reputation. But whatever, I'll take good strategy to low-profile any day.

Next city: I see no reasons against site 3 anymore, even if the new Voxian road is a military one (how can it not be?).

I have to agree, our strategy seems far superior to that of the opposing teams.
Regarding Vox's road, I agree - it has to be a military road. In fact, IIRC, several players suggested to Eli that he build a road for his immortals in his slow units vs. fast units thread in the start forum.

Oh, Vox's road surely has military purposes... but still, they shouldn't be able to use it fast. It reinforces my feeling that we should have a connected horse ready for when we see a band of immortals coming. #3 first, #7 next, I would say... and after that one worker should concentrate on getting a road to the horse asap.

I won't be too worried about being rushed until it looks like Vox might be stockpiling gold again.

I'm still liking #3, then #7 for our next two cities. Unfortunately, our worker won't be finished with the tile he's on (chop, irrigate, road) until the turn our third settler is complete, so there's no really good way to get a jump on our horse road. Of course if an emergency comes up, we may get stuck choosing a bad way.

Nathan, how do you set your screen resolution to 1600x1200? All I get is 1024x768 or so, and I'd like to set it to a higher resolution too.

EDIT: Oh, and the template for the filename is xxxxBC_from_GatheringStorm.sav, without the PTWDG.

It really depends on your video card and/or monitor. Could be that they are not capable to go as high as 1600x1200, could be that you're using generic video drivers.
What monitor and video card do you have?
