Hey, we're ringers for something: we follow orders, and kill everyone in sight

Nah, as said before, not at this time, I would damage the action here... better to leave it for those with experience.

We need a Tactical leader. I would do so myself if I wasn't already going to campaign for Diplomatic Chief....
....although maybe I should go Tactical as well and take 2/3rd's power of the Scholas..... hehehe.....

Ok that too is also a threat. If nobody steps forward soon I'm going to stage a coup de' tat.

just kidding but really someone step up to the plate...

The problem with the "ringers" is that few (none?) of us have MP experience or (more importantly) demogame experience. We're the strategy forum junkies.

I was just looking for an excuse to call you guys "ringers"

I thought it was hysterical when Dongeal (sp?) accused NYE and SR of rigging the teams with important Pros/"ringers"... I think we all know who's really overly concerned about winning . Remember this is the guy who made a dramatic large type set post stating that he had recruited "the legendary UberKruX" ...

Bringing unrelated outsiders (i.e. form the site's strategy forum) via sly underhanded dealings (i.e. PMs). ahhh drama

I don't have much interest in MP either, other than the C3DG. So this is a new experience for me as well....

FP I'm curious to what you may have had to say....

We still need a 3rd Grand Poobah (Deputy GP I suppose) and a Tactical Chief.... and every other race is still a one man affair....

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for Chief of the Economic Schola. I tend to view the economic and scientific aspects of the game, and especially the use of the luxury slider to get high production in the early game, as my strong suits.

I will step up for election for the Chief Tactician role, AKA Master of the Spartan Academy.

Two things though: 1) I definitely need some schooling in how DemoGames are best conducted, and what I need to be doing, and 2) I want to unofficially share the role with Arrian (if that's OK with him).

Fair warning: as my "election platform," people should be aware of and / or think through my likely recommendations to the Grand Poobah, especially in the early game.

Ah Finally we have a Tactical Chief.

Nowhere does it say in our threads that you can't share the position with someone else!

Early warmongering could be a lot more dangerous in MP than it is in SP. The attacker has the advantage of being able to choose the initial point of attack, but the defender generally has a considerable advantage in terms of mobility and in terms of getting newly built units to the front more quickly. Think of the kinds of tricks you use to blunt AI attacks, and then imagine another human player using them on us. Worse, consider, for example, what would happen if we and Glory of War would slug it out in a long, inconclusive fight while the Legolanders keep building.

I'm not against going on the offensive if we get in a situation where we have a clear advantage. But if our starting position lets us, I'd rather build our economy (while maintianing adequate forces to give us flexibility) and bide our time until a good opportunity presents itself. The ideal times for a fight would be if we outnumber an enemy or if we can join in a war where one rival has already been injured by another.

Yes, I know this sort of discussion would normally belong on the Spartan Academy thread, but since it goes to Theseus's platform and fitness for office (I'm not saying he's unfit, just trying to make sure he's ready to adapt his techniques appropriately for MP), I'm posting here. (And yes, it also speaks to my philosophy and platform as candidate to lead the Adam Smith Foundation.)

Nathan, you have a point when it comes to early combat being a lot trickier than in SP, however we need to have something that puts us ahead of the other teams if we want to have a comfortable position. As all teams have good SP players, it will be very hard to do it in a builder way: if there is no AI to bash, we will at best stay moderate. With caution, early warfare could win this game.

That said, I think both of you will be good chiefs, I'm a huge fan of early warfare as well, so Theseus would be someone who has my vote (well, if I decide to join the Spartan academy), while my building preferences will be well represented if you take office. A nice balance, I would say, even if many discussions are bound to happen between you two
