Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

    y'know alva, just underlining a word doesn't make it a link ....

I will attempt to be serious.

        My first move is:

send out scout, to a hut if in view.
set the build order to be: scout-warrior (dependent of course on difficulty level and distance from enemies)
research wheel (hopefully we will be near an ai with warrior code)
mine whatever nearby tile is best: cow or wheat or shield if unlucky

send 2nd scout out the other direction or around the area
        fortify warrior
build either another scout or a settler depending on city growth compared to settler production

*note if we build scouts first, we are more likely to pop a city or settler, since we will have less than the average number of cities.

In the alternate, re:m reasearch. I have played games where I go for polytheism, gambling on getting wheel, wc, and horseriding from huts, but thats pretty risky.

I'd say we go Wheel first. Then we can see if we are on top of horses or far away. We can then adjust accordingly.

Agree on the Scout-Warrior-Scout/Warrior...-Settler, with Settler timed for as near to 3 pop as possible.

And remember, we get no 'bad' results from huts (barbs) and we can get settlers so long as none of our cities has a settler in the que (as well as the must not be larger than average rule). Thus we want as many scouts as possible early.

I agree with researching The Wheel first. We have to know if we have horses near our start because this will effect everything we do. If we have to travel a fair distance to get Horses we need to know exactly where they are as soon as possible so we can stick a settler down there.

I also agree with building a few Scouts at the beginning. It's one of our main advantages so we should maximise it. If we can steal one or two of the huts near other players' start locations we can really hamstring them. Of course, if we find we're on a smallish island we should stop the Scout production, but that's just obvious.

Hey guys, don't mean to be rude and all, but where exactly is this thread in which we decided on the Irouqouis?

It's the Civ choice thread in this forum. We haven't 100% finally decided on the Iro's yet (alva jumped the gun a bit on that one ), but it is the clear favourite at the moment. It would take a big turn around for us to choose anyone else, but it might happen.

It is this thread .... oh wait ... underlining doesn't work on it's own does it? ( )

This is the real link. You've already posted in it, though.

That underlinded "this" isn't actually linking to anywhere, so, where is that thread?

                        read the second post

(alva just underlined hypothetically for, emphasis, not as a link, he's saying that, for the purpose of this thread, the civ of choice is the irquois. nothing sinister going on, i think)

what was the barb setting, random?

will play a role in our moves, if it is high activity.

Random won, but only just. We'll have to keep a close watch out and try and judge how serious it is.

Can a Random Barb choice turn out NO BARBS? If so then we'll have to keep our fingers crossed it doesn't. No barbs means no goody huts.
