Can a Random Barb choice turn out NO BARBS? If so then we'll have to keep our fingers crossed it doesn't. No barbs means no goody huts.
hmm. Now THAT is a serious question. WE need to figure that out. I will run a few tests and see what happens.

tentatively, I would say that random would never pick no barbs or huts, but that may just be wishful thinking....

And remember, we get no 'bad' results from huts (barbs) and we can get settlers so long as none of our cities has a settler in the que (as well as the must not be larger than average rule). Thus we want as many scouts as possible early.
That's why, I wanted to push for raging hordes, as it will hamper others more then it will us.

I just ran 20 tests on a huge pangea

        and....
        19/20 had huts

the other I explored a vast amount of space, probably half the total landmass and found none. not sure what the story was.

another note: about half of the maps had a hut within view of the capitol city

Wow I didn't even think about the effect of that map poll! It was totally in the back of my head and I didn't even think about it...

asleepathewheel - i'm hoping everything will be fine, but very good pointing that out. That would be a MAJOR blow to our livelihood in the beginning of the game...

Our newer members maybe, maybe send a pm to everyone. So they can check it.
              (wether they did infact vote)

ps: don't forget to tell them not to vote random

                Nevermind,
                Poll is closed

We could question the validity of the poll?

                  hmm

                  That's unfortunate.

I have no idea how I voted, that seems to be a long time ago.

Something tells me they won't want to revote....and if more than one or two of us raise the issue, would cause eyebrows to raise.

                  ideas?

the percentages still lie with us, so...

                    we could argue;

                    1. the poll states how we want the barbarians. not if we want them or not.
But by choosing random, there is a possibily, that there are no barbs, therefore the poll is not correct.

so there should have a poll first if we even wanted barbs (or at least include it in the poll options)

not a completely waterproof argument, but we could get away with it
(and even get them thinking we don't want any barbs at all)

                        Alva, I like your thinking!

I doubt it will fly, but who knows.

so we could argue that that poll was premature, when thr first question should have been if barbs were to be in the game at all.

                        hmm. ok

the others need to chime in, I think.

A possibly convincing story but I don't know how much it'll fly. We should try to get our word in real subtle-like...I'll make sure to mention it in one of my posts, but as a side comment not to make it appear like a conspiracy...
