In that case, I'll rather change it. Just in case Lego has a sub lurking near, and wants to attack us, it's the most fiar, I think.

What about the rest, do we need any more or not? I'm kind of saving Aeson's corrections for the comments thread... but I'm not sure yet how to include them.

Greetings friend.

Were that it could be otherwise that I send this message with faint hope that it get through.

Though our two nations are now at war, I find myself with a curious detachment after a lengthy period in retirement. I feel little fire for the fight as things stand. Perhaps then it is best for my nation that the task of fighting has fallen to others. I feel that you must suffer a heavier burden, and for that I salute you.

However, my detachment has not numbed me to the news I recently received of grievous destruction in your fair land. I do not plead innocence. I do not ask for forgiveness. I will live with the fate my nation finds in this world of deceit and bloodshed. I do however offer what comfort I can as I regret that these events have come to pass between your fair land and mine.

You have been a true friend to me, and so in this that must be a very dark hour for you, I wish you to know that... Words are not enough to salve the wounds. Let me simply say that I am sorry that these things have come to pass.

I am sure that your nation is not finished. Rumours abound of large armies still intact. The purpose of this missive is not to stay your hand, it is simply to send a message to a friend that your recent loss is not mourned only in Legoland, but is shared abroad.

officially, it's the first, CH... the fort was only created after the last battle occurred.

Aeson, I know you didn't intend to actually use your suggestions, but you know as well that when it comes to finesses, your English is a lot more sofisticated than mine.

I think that, if we do the combination of the quick, personal message to Vondrack / Legoland, and the battle report, we should be fine for the moment. Comments: we'll see how it goes. I've got no problems in being open, but only if this does not become a heated discussion, or mud slinging.

Well, there were 3 Ypres, and that didn't get anywhere either.

{EDIT - by either, I mean hypothetically if there were several turns of combat over that tile it'd be right to have multiple battle names. I think Lego called it the 1st Battle of Fort Stanwick, for their turn. Now it's 5 years later.}

If it does come to flaming/mud slinging, no one but DeepO should post anything in public. I doubt anything will happen (IMHO) but it is better to be safe than to be sorry.

I'm not sure, nye. I mean, I like the compasion (btw, you're not the only one feeling this), but it is very dark, without actually saying what happened. I wouldn't mind at all that you go the whole length at once, also giving them the news that they lost their capital.

This seems a bit of a friend comforting another friend, after he has gotten bad news. If someone would send me something like that, it wouldn't ease me into anything, I would worry even more. Maybe that's just me, though.

NYE, could you send that report after we post the battle reports? maybe half an hour after, too give the enormity of it a chance to sink in...

well, or send it immediately after an official private communication.... that also makes sense. It can't hurt to let them know that more people are thinking of the emotional consequences...
