The Uni costs 200 shields, not 160 as I think you were using in the calculation.

At the start of last turn, Hurricane had 6 rows of 20 plus one of 15 = 135s. Assuming I didn't change anything last turn (didn't see any changed logged on the turn thread) it'll have 150s at the start of next turn.

Bottom line is that we'll have 50 shields (4 turns) when we get the next save.

So two turns of 19s and one turn of 15s will do it in 3 turns, I think.

Tempest has 42 shields done, which is two turns of 21s, and eight to go.

I too think we should finish this Uni - the Uni's got delayed by knights and we comitted ourselves to Tempest and Hurricae - they have good commerce.

Agreed... uni's and GWs, here we come.

Hmm, looks like this ND thread got jumped by economics - never mind, ...

Arashi has the FP, a mkt, and has a knight finishing the turn after next. If we were getting a quick peace, we might want to change that knight to a last minute library. Even if we do demolish this place one day for a new FP, we should pull some interim science from this river city.

If Lego say no, we should keep the Knight build in Arashi.

I'd just like to throw my vote in for building a science wonder to boost the Colossus in Hurricane. Getting both of them (Newton's plus Copernicus) would be nice. That alone could give us enough research power to live with being cramped on a smaller land mass than everyone else.

New proposed message to ND. I'll send something tomorrow morning (Thursday) so please look at this and post your thoughts on what shuold go in and what should be left out. I'll look at what is posted, and send something that reflects the consensus view, but without doing another round of discussion.

                Dear ND,

We have decided to remove our Troops from Borconia in the near future. We are currently close to getting gunpowder, and are holding on now for the hope that we can get some saltpetre from the territory on Borconia under our or RPs control, allowing us to upgrade our pikes before we leave. Once we know for sure whether this is worthwhile, we'll be removing all troops from Borconia. If you want to help us on the way, you could always donate Gunpowder to us .

We are unwilling to sign a peace treaty on the terms you set out. We are going to leave Borconia anyway, and have no military plans beyond defending our own territory. We would welcome the opportunity to re-establish trade with ND as soon as you are willing to. If you prefer to try and invade us, then please feel free to do so.

The future of current RP cities is currently open. RP may wish to go down fighting, may raze everything and abandon their old Spanish territories, or may be willing to come to a deal about handing the cities over to you and/or GoW. Any offers you wish to make regarding RP cities should of course be sent to them rather than us.
                optional section:

We plan to stay at home and read books for a long time. The only military activity that has any kind of support in our forums would be supporting ND in the event of an ND - GoW war. One suggestion that is being considered is that of allying with you to remove GoW from the game - a deal where you get the majority of Bob and we get about 100 tiles is popular.

Right, right, 200 shields. Noticed that last night. Silly me.

                  19+19+15 = 53. That's the way to go.

Vulture: I'd hold off on the 2nd part of that message. No need to show our hand. If they get piled on, they will have to come to us and ask for help. Then I'd be inclined to assist. But I don't want them to know that.

That looks an excellent draft, vulture - except that hanging on for saltpeter is looking increasingly less worth it - see the turn thread.

Also, Arrian is right. We want people to come to us for our next adventure, but I loved the bit about reading books!

OK, so the turn has played and we're going - no ifs, no buts, and no saltpeter.

What do we say to ND now? They've stated that they don't wish to invade us and why should we disbelieve them? They have the land and the resources and have better things to do than persue GoW-esque grudges.

So, are we in a hurry for peace? AIUI, their WW should hit before ours so all we have to do is wait for them to phone - unless we're in a hurry to trade luxuries with them. Despite Darekills (partially retracted) bragging, the F3 and F8 screens show that they got hurt at the forest of doom too, and are weaker than GoW. They don't wish to spend many more units if they know we're going. GoW are chasing us now, but I'd be surprised if ND want to spend the units taking Pamplona, only to give it to a millitarily much stronger GoW.

In line with our proposed 'hard to get' diplomatic posture, I'm not sure what more we need to say to ND than "hello, here are some pleasantries and bye-the-way, we're going".

I doubt they'll want to pay for any cities - when GoW, we expect, will get them.
