I suppose that it has something to do with support costs, but I'd like to hear them give their excuse too.
And let's not give up on the 6 gpt so easily, we have to demand something in return - either make this a loan or we get Vox's WM once they've moved to Lego Land.

It's 8 turns off the agreed exodus time. Well worth 120g.

Can we rush the marketplace next turn?
I have no doubt that its cost-effective. It lets us have the commerce-boosting effect of a marketplace in Hurricane several (four?) turns earlier, and lets us reduce the lux slider to 0% as many turns earlier. Plus, it lets us start the library (next build?) sooner.

Are Vox still a despotism, or have they upgraded to monarchy or republic now? If they can't rush buy things, then the only possible use they have for the money is paying support costs, and I don't see how giving them the money for support will speed up the exodus - it just gives them the opportunity to take more of a military with them.

If they can rush buy, maybe we can give them the cash on the understanding that we get their WM once they know a bit about the Lego minor interior. If they are still despotic, then no way.

The financing is going to be close assuming the deal with Lego goes through on schedule, but I think we'll have just enough gold for a "rush a worker, change production to a courthouse, rush a courthouse, change production to a marketplace, and let the marketplace finish on schedule" double short rush strategy. We'll have to do it in the build phase next turn, but since EotS is scheduled to finish its library, that shoudn't be a problem. By the way, I'm thinking we'll probably want EotS to build a settler next since we'll need at least a couple more settlers and it can build a setlter as quickly as it can two workers at the moment.

By the way, Vox said explicitly that the reason they want the gpt is to deal with unit upkeep costs during the transition.

Aeson: that's inaccurate. There's not exactly an agreed Voxodus time, it's like those sales: by xx.yy.zzzz or until the stock runs out. In other words, there's an agreed Voxodus time but Vox must clear out sooner if they've emptied their cities sooner.
IMHO, now would be the time to take advantage of the clause that allows us to demand Vox for the information necessary to create a complete scenario of Northern Stormia and give them a step-by-step Voxodus plan, which they'll have to follow.

Vox is in Despotism (which is probably good for them while they're trying to move) and everyone else is in Republic. (It looks like RP changed governments somewhere along the line.) We're still militarily strong compared with everyone.

Shiber, I think if we push as hard as you seem to want to we'll cause more than 120 gold's worth of diplomatic damage. Once we get our marketplace in Hurricane, that's less than one turn's post-expenses gold. Or to look at it another way, it's the cost of short rushes to get ahead one pike during the war. We can afford it.

I'd like to wait one more turn to send the gold just to make sure Vox has a plan that's actually going to work. There's no sense in paying them to get out faster if they don't have their new capital ready to a point where we can be sure a palace jump will work (I think the plan is for them to give us Wittlich before we take The Voice), but assuming they have things ready, I'm inclined to give them the gold.

Turn and shots sent. After I sent the shots, I thought of a couple more tweaks to let Typhoon finish its courthouse next turn instead of the turn after and to give O.G. a couple extra shields that Bolderberg doesn't need to finish its aqueduct on schedule.

6gpt: Ask for their WM, there is no reason why they would deny us that. I don't mind giving them the money, even if it is not that clear why they'll need it (upkeep is only partly the reason, as they could indeed bring less units to Lego)

I agree on the rushed marketplace in Hurricane, but probably not on the library... I'm not perfectly clear on timing issues, but if we want to have a shot at building the research wonder (Newton's not it, the one that comes with Astronomy) in Hurricane, we have to start asap. Lego is probably already building it... and GoW still has a GL prebuild in their capital going

Way to go, Nathan. It's little things like this that will keep us competitive despite our arid island homeland.

Market + Library ASAP. Then start Copernicus prebuild.
