How do you feel about rushing the Cat in Monsoon as well?

That's my only comment, Nathan... your call, go ahead and play the build phase.

        Build phase sounds fine.

I agree with Nathan: fire cats at A9, take A9, stick 2-3 pikes up there.

Sweeeeet! We're up and running again!

If we go after Arashi 9, rushing a cat in Monsoon could fit in nicely. The cat could move 6-2 and use its third move to hit Arashi 9 without leaving it vulnerable to counterattack. If we don't go after Arashi 9 this turn, I'm a bit more skeptical since it couldn't attack until the following turn. Under those conditions, we'd have more flexibility saving our gold until next turn, although we'd lose a cat shot at (probably) retreating troops in exchange for that flexibility.

By my count, we'll have nine pikes in the area, so we could plant four on Arashi 9 and still have five in Arashi. Or five on Arashi 9 and count on medieval infantry to defend Arashi if Vox gets anything past the first four (with their six supporting cats).

I'm going to vote in support of Arashi9... BUT, let's take it bit by bit, and see how the Cat bombards go. The only uncertainty is the rush-Cat from Monsoon... I say we go for it.

We will want to leave one Pike in Tempest... all the others can head for Arashi9, leaving the Pikes in Arashi true-fortified.

On the eastern front, I just think it important to have six units on each mountain... balanced of course, and with as much true-fortifying as possible.

Ooooh, this is gonna be great!!

Okay, I'll go ahead and rush the cat in Monsoon. We can use the Arashi cats until either we're one cat hit away from getting the Arashi 9 units down to one hit point each or we've had such horrible luck that we give up on the plan to take Arashi 9 (in which case we have the option of sending the new cat all the way to Arashi instead).

                    Good.

Do we really need to redline the units on A9? I'd be happy with 2 hps left... I do this often: bombard to 2 hp, try to kill, if a loss and an enemy promotion then bombard more, rinse and repeat.

Vox now has two vet and one regular immortals and one vet and one regular swordsman at Arashi 6-9. No surprises elsewhere on the map. By the way, I missed a pike: our pike from EotS last turn gives us a tenth that can reach the Arashi/Arashi 9 area.

So we get 7 cat shots total, right?

Let's fire until we're out of shots or the units are redlined (the former is more likely, I'd think. I'd rather make absolutely sure our units win. The whole point of having bombard units is to reduce casualties. Time is on our side w/respect to the troops in our territory. They can't heal. If we take A9, they can't retreat. The only thing they could do is charge heavily fortified positions. If they stand pat, we get 7 more shots at 'em next turn.

If we get the A9 units down to one hit point, odds are good that one of our attackers will escape damage and be able to attack at full strength again next turn if we feel the need. That, plus the reduced risk of actually losing a unit, make me inclined to get them down to one hit point if possible - especially since they're fortified.

I went ahead and took two cat shots at Arashi 9 with cats from Tempest. Both missed. Shall I keep going?
