I can't recall if we disbanded galleys, but it wouldn't have been for units. We had enough units, only out of place. We had a couple of turns were settlers and workers were guarding our coasts. And we weren't going anywhere, that much was certain. So why need galleys?
We may have been paranoid, but it did create a feeling of safety that we desparetely needed. Don't forget, from the end of the Ancient era, we had been at war. We were exhausted. At such a time, you start looking at everyone (yes, Vox, you too. Who says you wouldn't come back to retake your birth ground). Many of our team had left, or started lurking (I'm extremely proud and happy Aeson rejoined our team after an absence of a year) because of the wars and public 'propaganda'. We managed to get some new blood, and found our footing again.
It doesn't really matter if any other team actually was going to invade us, but for the first time, we could let go, and start some planning of our own. From the start of this game, we had been reacting to stuff happening around us, instead of taking initiative. That sea wall, how stupid and unnecessary it may have looked in your eyes, was directly responsible for us taking the science wonders... creating a path to Legoland. That had more to do with peace and quiteness in our team, than with anything else... and after a while, we got a team again (thanks in no small part that we actually have more builders in our ranks. I'm not a general.) So laugh what you want, I'm glad we had our spears, horses, and WCs guarding our coast.
