It is true that many in the Horde see themselves as a team to go forward together to other demo games, weve hads much discussion on this already in our forum.

To say we would be a rerun of this game is unfair really, weve played our role as we saw it, a Mongol Horde, we even named our team Blood Oath Horde, and played the Mongols, this should really have given others some clues as to how we intended to play !!

We took the Civ traits and much research on our chosen Civ and mixed it all up resulting in what you have all seen played out here in this game !

I believe we have done a fantastic job of portraying a Mongol Horde.

I also believe our team will also just as easily play the role of other Civs based on historical knowledge, Civ traits and game mechanics.

Golden Bear I reckon there is more danger of some people taking thier grudges against the Horde into the next Civ 4 demo games, than ever there will be of us just rerunning this performance and being same old same old

    I hope were both wrong

Krill - thanks for the discussion. I guess that I was only commenting on the cards that were left to us after I joined the team! AM has done a fine job in this game and I have been impressed with your play. At this point in the game we really aren't eager to exit the game but are in something of a box - without question we are proving the law of consequences!

Chrisius - also thanks for your comments. I think that I have mentioned repeatedly that the Horde played their culture well. I was interested in a discussion of the possibility that the team(s) might have difficulty breaking the mold of their previous existance. Also, IIRC, Paddy said something about the "Horde" moving to CivIV which sort of implied the Horde rather than the Horde team. I think that you also caught on to the drift of whether each game will play out the same way if the teams are intact.

I think some teams will try and keep there personna (obviously the Horde would be a good one) and some will want a change.

There are a lot of people out there who were active in the first two ISDG's who aren't even playing in this game and the release of CIV IV will bring at least some of those folks back.

I little bit of the same, and a little bit of new.

          Its all good

Actually, I think it is not the worst idea to heavily research the history of the chosen Civ, and play it the way it was played historically. It provides soul, game entertainment, team culture, and an inherent understanding of the Civtraits, the UU and how the team is seen by others.

Also building an integral team culture and organization with proper roles, function and skills not only in the Civ3 arena, but also numerical, strategic and Civ3 specific, not to mention desktop publishing and analysis skills outside the norm add to a teams quality.

I think it is a question of avoiding whining, and emphasizing organization and communications, as well as high quality analysis. The Horde is doing well thanks to the organization developed from the very beginning.

I was just happy enough to join the right team, and add something new they had not before, which was just a minor addition to something already great.

If you delved deep enough, you might have found out that Temujin was a fabulous Risk player, so I'm sure he wasn't sweating it either. He also had a lovely singing voice, but that's beside the point. He's dead now.

Just an idea. We get a couple of teams captains. Players then put their names out there. Team captains then go about picking names. I'm sure it'll be just like kick ball in grade school, "No. Really. I don't want him. Tell you what. I'll give you two runs if you take Skrobism."

                  But that's ok.

Just an idea. Might shake things up a bit.

people usually don't like being forced to play on a team with players they don't like, and to a lesser extent don't like to split from good friends.

That is why it is usually best if the teams resolve themselves...

Maybe if they played together they'd get to know each other and then discover that they actually LIKE each other? It's happened to me more than once.

Of course, everybody here likes me so I know that is not an issue.
