  • Civ IV Demo Game Discussion

So lots of chat going on in chat rooms of this...

    many seem interested

    what will become of it?

will Beta be right, can he get all teams to take the Horde out early?
and in that break his own rules on taking stuff to another game

    will Beta lead another team?

will Beta actually get Civ Iv discs afterall?

what will become of Snoopy? will he join up with the Team Babylon and forge a new world alliance?

will 1889 make the trek from Alaska to the old world for the new game?

will MWIA join a team this time?

will we really see an influx of new players?

will anyone who was not in the initial demo game ever learn what the dynamics of a demo game really are?

will we have 12 teams as that will be the number of players in Civ IV PBEM's?

will Apolyton ever get 5 new smileys?

so many questions, so many games, so many players...

and only one Beta to lead us into the land of truth and better demo game dynamics

Paddy, are you saying that the Horde will travel to the next Demo? You've already done that. One of the interesting things for me in a future demo would be to see the teams Play different societies. A replay of the Horde's bluster and assertion would be kind of stale, don't you think?

I think starting with a clean slate and being different would be fun.

Coming from a team that is leaving the game so fast, that sure is a funny statement.

Expect there to be more than 1 Demogame for CIV.

It is more likely that about 10 or so teams form, and we have semifinals and finals round.

That should take up at least 3 years...maybe it will finish the summer that I finish uni...

            ---

And the reforming of old teams is not a taboo. Just don't expect for every team to be exactly as before. (My bet is that the teams would resolve into the same teams as PTWDG and then the remainder stick with the same teams as in EoD...)
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

The Horde sure played its role well. From what I could see, they had read up on Mongolian history, so in a sense, this was almost historical reenactment for Civ3 purposes.

I was not implying any criticism of anybody related to this game.

Of course the Horde has played its role well. I was wondering out loud whether it would be difficult to change its personality if it transferred to a different game, intact. I did not express myself well over the first coffee of the morning.

I have no views on keeping teams intact. This is my first Demo and I am learning as I go. I would not mind at all to play with the same team that I had this time, but I also would not mind playing with new people.

Paddy, I think that your pointed remark was way off base. We have hardly left, "...the game so fast..." We have certainly stayed longer than AM wanted us to, in my opinion.

We have been using every means at our disposal to survive and ultimately to prosper. Considering our position when I joined the team, I think we have done a good job, bordering on masterful. We had constraints of our own based upon playing the roles that we chose.

Eh, GB, babylon would be in a much better position if they had:
                      1. Never joined the original TNA
                      2. Connected iron alot earlier
                      3. Not pissed off BOH
                      4. Invaded AM when we were at war with BOH
                      5. Actually built an army

You aren't losing a war to a team that started this war in a better condition. When this war started we were the minnows, and you had the largest economy.

GB, what you have to understand is that Am has never been a power on this continent. We lost alot in the war against BOH. Since then, we have been clawing everything back, trying to get back onto equal terms with everyone else. We never expected to come out alive from that war, but we did...and now that is your problem, so to speak.

My point being that we are discussing a future Demo game and that was one sentence as sort of a side bar.

Perhaps it would be better if you opened a thread about how screwed up the Babylon team is, with your extensive knowledge, Im sure it would be a very popular thread.

                            Good luck

I'd rather not, seeing that the team is fine. I was only commenting on the decisions made.

I'm just replying to a simple post with a simple post of my own. I've already stated my thoughts on a CIVDG, and I will definately sign up to a team.
