We were at war with Matsunaga when I started.

The Uragami declared war for no good reason in 1484 and have yet to act on that.

I don't respond well to the AI demanding things from me if I get nothing in return. But then again they did nothing about it. Nothing lost. Go figure.

Considering that demand was half a turn before our WM got expanded by 14 gold of a value, I'm not sure how wise it was to risk a war over a mere 10 gold and a map.

Sorry. Still learning. Would the AI have been that much more friendly to me the next time I delt with the Uragami? What is the harm in the war with the Uragami? They have yet to move a unit near us, never mind actually attack.

Were their maps over priced? Should I have told them to stick their maps trades where the sun don't shine?

I honestly ask and look for some advice.

Making enemies is not very good, as we are still developing our military power. You would not want to see their army approach when we are busy wiping out the Oda (or whatever target presents itself). Starting on Emperor level, one has to seriously consider giving in to small demands (some cash, a map) to keep the peace, and build up in relative safety, at least in the early game.

The airfield thing is a bug with a text file in the Sengoku scenario (I think it is "Labels.txt"). You need the correct file, and everything should be back to normal. This should not be breaking the game, though.

Comments on the save (sorry if I double up something):

• Finish the Matsunaga but do not burn their cities. We are in no shape to whine about bad city spacing. We need all the production and cash as soon as possible!
• Use the lux slider. Our two biggest cities have Entertainers. This is not acceptable!
• Expand the borders of Hiyoshi Stronghold with a Temple or even Archives. This will give it a Whales tile to work, and add some resistance against flips.
• Expand the bordersof Noriko's seaview. Same reason.
• Forget about building Catapults. Stone Crossbows are better, as they upgrade rather cheap to Samurai Archers (and later to the strongest unit of the scenario: Samurai Arquebusiers). They can bombard, too.
• (low priority, at least while dealing with the Matsunaga) Make one Spearman per city, to be upgraded to Samurai Spearmen. Those should be stationary as invasion deterrent.

Do we wait for Jon to return, or will McMeadows play instead???

Thank you for the feedback. There is so much bluster about WAR WAR WAR on these threads that I am more afraid of making peace than having an extra enemy. That could be what is wrong about my personal games.

Lux slider - same thing. I am afraid to use that, vs using the Entertainers. I usually give a rioting city and entertainer and start moving a military unit back into town ASAP. It's been a week but I am sure that is what I was doing.

Catapult - we had one when I started. I think I started another. I see your point. Besides cat's need protection.

If your government allows MPs, it does not mean you have to use them. Certainly not if so seriously at war as we are in this game. Besides, the lux slider gets more useful with better governments, especially those without any MP. As long as there are few luxuries (that Sake would be nice to have), the lux slider is your friend (up to 30% makes sense, more is not good).

I built a settler, and wanted to found a city there, but it was not to be. We only grew by taking back what was ours.

The settler builds aren't a complete waste [just early], we can use them for infilling in ex-Matsunga lands.

Also on DG+ levels, you should always turn on the wait at end of turn option and investiage every single city in your empire before going on to the next turn to check for disorder.

On map trades it depends upon how much the other AIs have to offer. If an AI wants more cash for the map than you can recover in trades that turn (including discounts in techs), it's better off not to buy it that turn.
