  • Rusicade?

    Simple question, complicated reasons.

Do we want to abandon Rusicade and thereby gain a turn or two of Spices (during Anarchy, probably saving a few population from starving and/or burnt buildings) by settling the citizen on the spices (next to Rusicade)?

The legion inside Rusicade reports a 6 turn build, but there's a second that would be there in 1 turn, probably leading to a 3 turn net build, possibly 2. It would finish the last turn of Anarchy probably.

We would be losing a city in a poor location filled with foreign citizens, and gaining one in slightly better location, that would allow us to keep Spices safe from Carthage (by building on it - this way they can't pillage it). We have a citizen on-site.

However, we'd be losing a city...

If we were in first place in land area by now I wouldn't have a problem, but we are way behind where we should be in land area at this point in this game.

Those are Roman citizens you are talking about. We didn't even seriously consider abandoning the city taken from the barbaric Celts, and now THIS?! How will others react to such an atrocity?! What will our citizens say?!

This is a sad day, Senators.
        Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

            I say Raze Ruiscade.

            Yes these are now Roman's.
Yes we are probably behind in land mass.

But think of it as moving a city, not so much razing. This is different than the situation that we had with northern Roman/Celtic cities. Those were obtained in a peaceful trade. Riuscade is the spoils of war. We give the new Romans a moving stipend and everyone is happy. They are lucky their homes weren't razed when it was captured!

Viroconium is an aweful name. Try Snoopium or SpicyMeatballium.

Ahem, i'm pretty sure these things come with any city we build or take. Certainly we don't keep temples from cities we capture

And, these are NOT roman citizens. They are captured tribesmen who allied themselves with Carthage. At this stage in Empire we do not call these villagers Romans, but "friends", until the next time a Carthaginian army bigger than ours walks by, at which point they are called "enemies". Not "Citizens" - not for centuries certainly. A few of you Senators need to read up on your Roman History And Codified Laws ...

oh I would have thought we were actually making History, not replaying someone elses entirely

so surely we get the opportunity to share how we see the present, and thus mold the future of Romew into our image

I vote for keeping Rusicade. Why destroy those nice walls and temple. Anyway, with a determined offensive we can soon have all Spain under our control.

I have to apologize for my mistake - we have built the Hadrian Wall and The temple of Artemis. These great wonders put a temple and walls in every city on the continent, i. e. we will have these city improvements in every new founded city.

However, I still think we should keep Rusicade and build new city with the citizen

I then offer the wisdom of a former Emperor......perhaps the Senate may come to a decision via this compromise:

Instead of "wasting" an existing citizen, let Rusicade build a citizen of its own (through natural growth to 3 pop), then abandon Rusicade and use the new citizen to found New Rusicade on the spices.

Sure, a few turns will be lost.....but we have an instant Temple and Walls, plus the ability to grow beyond size 6 without an Aqueduct.

                              A reasonable compromise, Emperor Snoopius?
