Ghengis and Shiber are right, as always. The Ghengis plans to fill the two gaps can be implemented in the next turchat, and I agree with Panag, too. If possible, we need at least two more settlers (maybe three) to fill new gaps (and for Uber Isle). In the French case, is vital to us make this connection with the mainly portion of our Empire.

Is there some bug in the game that won't allow settlers to move the first turn after they're created?

Here is a map of current borders(yellow) and future borders(red) after uber, seeberg, gaia and geofront expand(I'll assume we'll rush temple we need that soon borders), the hatched areas are the place where the comp fills a border if borders are close(this is the only place that I could be wrong, it tend to remeber the comp will fill ina border if there is a 1 square corridor between borders. This map shows why I see no danger, though i might move a pike or 2 or 3(see NYE post) to delay the settler.

That's still a pretty big gap and it has a luxury resource in the gap. I've seen the AI found cities right on my borders and steal territory from me, so I believe they will continue to this area until a city is located there.

If we try to herd them we will be using several units that could be killing Persians instead!

I hope not, what we need to do is rush the temple, that in my opinion will do it. The only place I would rush a settler is Loveshack and that not until they get to 3. I don't see the danger, even if they do go there and I would take bets they won't, so what. The city is virtually surronded with many squares in our borders, culture flip is inevitable and if it doesn't we take when we attack germany(yes I have a plan for germany, but it will require knights, how appropriate that I am planning our first blitzkrieg for germany, yes I love irony). I will push for the german invasion right after the american invasion is done, lets face it they will hit us if we don't hit them.

GF suggested rushing a settler in BHQ somewhere, I believe he said it would take four turns to get to the site.

Rushing a temple would be better, as it would preclude the Germans from taking a good portion of that area. At the same time however, we can have one of our cities start working on a settler. If we are smart we can use 3 units to try and block the germans from moving their settler. We should be able to occupy the 'settler shuttle' until our settler is finished.

BTW, what do you mean, the settler is on strike?

For the second time in a row a settler was built and he will not move. He refuses to do anything put stay in the city that built him.

(I'm inclined to believe that MWIA just ended his turn without moving him again)

I believe in the euphotia of victory that happened, I usually fortify units i don't plan on using just in case.
