    • I can't check from here. I just knew the food was wrong. I think the only thing that can produce 1 commerce and nothing else is an arctic square, but I'm not sure if even that can. Maybe arctic makes production as well.

      EDIT:

Updating attachments on a post doesn't work very well. If you did this, it's possible others will download an older version. We discovered this when people wanted updated saves in the middle of turnchats. Updated file, new post.

13 - 15 are along a river that's why. Although, UOOO nor GF seem to realise this. So do I have the wrong tiles here?

By the way UOOO's proposed deal is for 12 and 13. This should be 13 and 14, right?
They are NOT by a river, look at the city and the direction from it.

The three jungles by the river were bought by jdd2007 23, 24, and 25.

You seem to be mixing Termina and Tassagrad up.

        • Diagonal counts, too. Load up the save, and you can check. My northern tile gets the 1 commerce bonus

          • Correct, 13 is next to a river by the diagonal.

            • I understand now, thanks. I had used three wrong tiles. Wondered why they were in the auction when I did that? But this explains it all. They were not.

So in the new version that is uploaded with this post I use:

              13 1-0-1
              14 1-0-0
              15 1-0-0

              • Here's how the next trade session will work (if Captain can't run it):

Once it starts it will run at least 24 hours. The close time will be a SPECIFIC Apolyton time (you know the 4 digit number posted in your threads for example this posts time is 18:18 on 22-08-2002) and will be posted in the thread. Any post after that digit doesn't count, that way NO ONE, especially me as the Banker, has an advantage on setting prices. As the time you made your post is beyond any of our abilities to alter.

After that time is reached the Banker will go back through the thread and tally up all proposals and determine which one's were successful based on ratios we have been using.

All future land auctions should be made and closed by a Government Agent who IS NOT allowed to bid in that auction and is allowed to choose one land territory not sold in the auction at its close in compensation.

                Any comments/suggestions?

Govenrment agent not allowed to buy land for himself, that's why i didn't. conlfict of interest. but to give them free land tile remaining, wouldn' that encourage them to try to avoid selling a tile they want (by pricing the minimum too high)? How about a % of sales? That way, it's reflective of how much activity they generate (and maybe how good a job they are doing?)

I'm talking about the time at the top of the post cause it's not set to my timezone. and it's been the same when I've been in other hemispheres.

According to the time at the top of this post, I posted at 8:09 pm but it's actually 2:20 pm where I'm at. Of course we could simply make the close EXACTLY 24 hours from when the opening post was made. Then anyone could figure it out on there own time set.

                      Jobs and salaries ideas:
Market assesor opens market and posts demand/supply conditions.
                      Salary=?

Banker at close of market goes through entire thread, computes all transactions and post succesful/unsuccessful list at close of market.
                      Salary=?

Government Agent determines start values of property and conducts property auctions, CANNOT bid in auction, but recieves 10% of proceeds (Captain's payment for the first auction would have been $1390).

                      • Sounds good to me!

$1390 eh? I could almost buy those really expensive tiles near BHQ!

Do I get anything for being Market Assessor for 2 turns?

I don't think I'll be around long enough to see whether or not fellow players agree on that compensation... but whatever it is, just add it to my estate (currently at zero for everything). Whoever is willing to care for my estate in the time I'm away, I'll give 25% of whatever profits you earn for me. If you do especially well, I'll add a bonus!

                        • If the Government agent receives 10% of proceeds, he will have a vested interest in valuing lands more highly. I think that's a rather serious conflict of interest, if he's going to be the only one valuing land.

It would be better if the base value of land was set much lower, with fewer limits on the number of tiles that could be bought, thus making for more real competition in land purchases.

Post a poll with the following option to run 2 days,
                            Government Agent
                            1 10% or $1390
                            2 tile 30 (worth 1500)
3 Lump salary per auction of $1500

                            Market Assesor-determines beginning supply demand
                            4 $100
                            5 $200
                            6 $300

                            Banker-determines final supply demand/succesful transactions
                            7 $100
                            8 $200
                            9 $300
Allow each person to vote 3 times?

I'll manage your estate if you tell me which tile it is once this is determined.

you're right. well, next auction that is something to consider. I believe the next one will be after the grace period is up? on the 16th turn.

anyone with no outstanding debt can bid again (which is likely every active player).

but, I'm no longer Government Land Agent. the new one will have to decide that. sc369, you want to be the Land Agent? It's a bit of work, but if you get compensation, it could be worthwhile. the Land Agent can do more land deals but doesn't have to until another 16 turns. but if you're the one in charge, you can do whatever you like - except obviously not purposely screwing over the government (that's why I would prefer compensation to be tied somehow to how well the agent serves government interests.)

                              Genghis, you're the Banker, right?

If sc369 doesn't volunteer, we still need a new Market Assessor starting turn #3.

                              anyone? anyone at all?

                              • Genghis, even if i don't have a tile, you can manage my estate. if it's cash amounts, buy a tile for me, or just use me as a "bank" and lend money out from my account to those you think have a good chance to pay it back later, with interest of course.
