You get more Civs to choose between then the expected Civ-3 scenario/expansion-set gets released. One thing at the time. Im sure that my Vikings and 7 other Civs gets added then. Dont worry.

I have seen two Aztec cities on a screenshot. I immediately recognised the names from previous installments of civ, the cities being Tenochtitlan and Ecatepec. We have also seen what is thought to be the Eagle Warrior special unit on another screenshot. Also check out my thread on other civs

On my list, I had the Spanish in there. It would be expected that the Babylonians replace the Spanish, and that Salamanca must have been a Roman city...

I think the Spanish would have made a valuable addition to civ3 myself...they could have had the conquistador as one of their special units as well

By the way: I really expect that the Arabs gets added in the upcoming expansion-pack once Civ-3 is released and selling great. They contributed and changed history enormously with the whole Islamic expansion movement.

Since the Firaxis-team is americans , they would rather add the historically insignificant Iroquois instead then the huge impacting Arabs. I have nothing against Hebrews either, by the way - why not add both. That should provide some nice material for modern time war-scenarios, I believe.

Mongols would be nice though... they've been in since CIV1, and the aztecs were just... arisotcats

wait, those were incas.... or maya?

                Arisotcats?

I think that there should be a wider array of civs in the game, namely 32. And then we could have had the Mongols, Arabs, Incas, Spanish, who also deserve to be in the game!

I'd have liked to see the Phoenicians (as opposed to the Aztecs), but if it's the Aztecs, I won't dispute it, provided that the Phoenicians are in a possible expansion.

BTW- how did the Iroquois get in there?
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

As far as I see it, it was a matter of political correctness. They did have Sioux in Civ2, and maybe they think that adding the Iroquois widens the sales in USA, though it seems like a vague point to me.

I totally forgot about the Spanish. They are dead given for either the 16:th Civ or the next expansion-set. An absolut must.

I reckon 16 civs is not enough at all . I think it should be like in CtP2 so you would be able to add your own civilization . And there are more than 16 civs as a default setting in CtP2.
In CivIII should more than 16 civs 'cause there is gonna miss a lot of important nations and there will be insufficient diversity !!!
I'm not happy with only 16 civs to chose and I'm pretty disappointed. I thought CivIII will be better than CtP2 in every attribute but it seems it won't . That's a great pitty.

I like having a free hand to set things up in a game like in CtP2. It seems that I will be very limited in setting in CivIII, that's what I don't like. I believe a lot of people have the same opinion as I do.

I still hope I will be able to do setting a lot in CivIII too!

PH - referring to typo or to content? loo, the Inca were not a people, thy were just a ruling class.... that's my point

Yeah, but whatever, that term has been used to refer to the indigenous population of the Andes at that time.

It should be the Hebrew(just because they weren't in Civ1 and Civ2)

                                amendum1: 16 civs that's pathetic,only 16

                                amendum2: Phoenicians <> Carthagians
=> Carthagians founded in North africa by the legendaric queen Dido, and they had the Phoenician wars with the Romans
=> Phoenicians(in Dutch Feniciers) lived in Italy before Romans.
(or am I just fighting a translation problem?)
