Yeah - it hasn't happened to me again yet, but I had one poster at CFC PM me with a note that it happened to him in his game. Would love to understand if it is an easter egg, but I think there are just a few lines of code crossed up somewhere.

*Bump* this one, to respond to your games.

Thanks people for your games and great stories. I had a lot of fun to read them. I logged in for a few minutes Sept 2nd in an internet café near Hersonissos and read some spoilers, but €2,00 for 15 minutes was too much to write a response. So I read the rest and write my response only now, after I returned.

Here's a few thoughts why I made this game:

I wanted to see, how different AIs with different (but almost balanced) traits do in exactly the same circumstances. Do they build cities in the same locations or is there a random element in the AI's choice? And I wanted to see a game, where the human player can't take advantage of early conquests, exploiting the AI's REX mode. I did not intentionally hurt Germany, this is a bug.

The mini advantage (or better micro advantage) is: Horses and Iron are on the small bananas, and accessible only after Astronomy. So Knights as first possible forces for a bigger invasion can be built only after Astronomy, at least in the productive cities. But we are the Indians and don't need resources for our Elephants. We can prebuild a good invasion force between Chivalry and Astronomy and attack right after discovering Astronomy and upgrading our Galleys.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game, well, at least some of you . I read Umberto Eco's "Baudolino" during my vacation, lying in the sun and deserving a royal sunburn (Lotion is for sissies ). A really great book. It brought me some ideas for a new challenge. I'm already sitting over the map.

PS: Alexman, I hope all went well with your wedding!

        Welcome back!!

I put away the game to play AU 105 (which you should play too, it's very much fun).

I'm picking it up again now, going into the space race... and although I'm the dominant civ (in addition to my original islands, I control Persia's big island, as well as the mini-islands of Persia, England, Germany, and Egypt, plus 3 of Egypt's main cities), I'm losing the space race!!

I might have to capture Kyoto.

Just finished... space race in 1890AD, no big whoop on score (3020).

It was close at the end... England had 8 parts and was building a 9th, and Rome and Russia each had 8 parts. I don;t think the AI is programmed to pre-build, as I sold Superconductors 2 turns before completing, just to see if they would convert any production to Fuel Cells and Life Support.

The interesting part was the AI attack strategy... the tip of each main island and some cities on the little islands changed hands several times, but to no lasting effect.

Gandhi the Warmonger was the only one interested in long-term conquest!!

Does Banana Island have anything to do with the banana obsession on Off Topic?
