Traditional size in Britain is sufficient to hold an Imperial pint which is 20 ounces. Thus the mug would be a little bigger than that (call it 22 ounces). Since you colonial Johnies have your own (16 ounce) pint, you can get away with smaller mugs.

My apologies for the totally off (current) topic post, but ...

Does anyone actually KNOW the conditions under which a size 1 city is NOT destroyed by conquest?

                  Bloody threadjackers.

Hehe no, noone seems to know.....other than it varies. Perhaps we should tell Samson that it's a problem......that's probably the best course of action.

Ricardo is the guy is my avatar.

He is an early 19th century economist.....famous for the first exposition of the case for free trade, and the initial work on comparative advantage, as well as being the first economist with any technical skill.

                      I am still in Southampton.

IIRC it never happens when the city is a capital

Why not create some empty size 1 cities in cheat mode, and run a few tests?

The last time I captured a size 1 city was in the 'no science' succession. It was Athens (Greek capital, of course), size 3 with 2 defenders originally. I attacked twice with elephants, reducing it to size 1 and killing both defenders. I entered the city with a wounded ellie, and the city was destroyed.

(Despite the city being destroyed, I still stole a tech and my ellie was still healed.)

So... the city was a capital and was destroyed. IIRC it was on plains, and obviously not walled.

For what little its worth my empirical observation suggests that:
If I capture a size 1 city it always vanishes
If Barbs capture a size 1 city it seldom vanishes
If the AI captures a size 1 city it sometimes remains

Could this be related to the differing sizes of the food box?

Does this agree with your observations?
